PreS-Gr. 2. In this latest title in the I Spy Readers series, Marzollo adds new text to images culled from I Spy Treasure Hunt (1999). Short, rhyming directions invite children to search for objects in the crowded, often grainy color photographs, and small, inset pictures show what to look for. A few of the images are obscure: some children may have trouble puzzling out "a pair of wings," for example, which is represented by an abstract, bird-shaped hole in a piece of wood. But the I Spy formula continues to draw eager fans, and the closing pages, which group objects by letter, will certainly appeal to the newest readers. A vocabulary review appears on the inside cover. I thought this would be one of the full size, larger books. It is very small and limited. My son finds it somewhat entertaining, but there isn't enough material in it to look at it more than a few times.
