Engaging and Fun,

The photography in the book is amazing. Every picture is eye-catching and fun to search through because of all the cool little objects. My three-year old has become obsessed with this book; the utter delight on his face when he finally found the objects and the pride he takes in now being able to pick them out quickly are absolutely adorable! Some of the little figures are also reused in the differnt pictures so even though he now knows where all the figures are he still makes new discoveries when he finds the reused figures and takes great delight in comparing them.
The rhynmes are simple, but appropriate with a solid rhythm kids can easily pick up on. Also, like most Scholastic Readers, the word I Spy in the second half of the book is great practice of reading skills. Young children like mine will be able to grow into the second half of the book and older kids will get some good practice. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I bought this for my 4 year old who loved the big "I Spy" book we borrowed from the library. While he enjoys reading this book, and it has the bonus of providing pictures of what to search for making it possible for him to do alone, it's way too simple for him. The book is smaller and easier than I expected. Nonetheless, I am sure it will be well loved. I just wish there was more of a stepping stone between this and the regular "I Spy" books which do require reading.

BUT not full of busses or vehicles,

I was going to buy this book because my son loves vehicles and has recently gotten very interested in look and find books. At 2 1/2 he can spend a long time concentrating on each page if the book is about things he's interested in. Although this book would seem to have a lot of vehicles, it doesn't. It's also easier, less visually entertaining and artistic, and less full of stuff, than the full size versions. Which is probably good for a younger child, but to my surprise, even at his age, it was too easy...and less fun for me too. BTW My son LOVED Dream Machine, a Can you see what I see book.

The I Spy books are great for stimulating children's minds. The downside is that this book is printed on thin paper and has a soft cover which means it's not very sturdy and not for book-tearing toddlers. On the upside, it's inexpensive and easy to pack in a suitcase or take/keep in the car.

Great for ages KG & up. VERY COLORFUL. GREAT PHOTOGRAPHY. Do know that these are NOT the LARGE HARDBACK BOOKS, these are the smaller paperback books for these prices. Still highly recommend !

I buy as many of the I SPY books I can for my Grandson, he loves them. I started him very early and he loves the extreme challenger series already and he is 6. All the books are wonderful teaching attention to detail. Their are many creative ways to use these books, you can spy the clues given or make up your own clues to objects on the page.

Not great compared to the original I Spy series, and a little easy even for easy readers.

Good but has a flaw...,
This review is from: Scholastic Reader Level 1: I Spy a School Bus (Paperback)
I like this series and so does my daughter however I don't understand why they have a "pipe" as a prop. This seems very outdated and inappropriate for young children.
