This fun resource provides engaging practice and reinforcement for the essential math skills that kids need to command. My son enjoyed this book, especially those patterns and brain-teassing puzzles. They draw kids' curiosity and push them to apply the basic concepts learned from school.

I believe kids need more problem-solving practice to master math skills. In addition to this book, we use the free weekly math tests at Beestar (www.beestar.org). This nice web site provides similar practice in standard test format. With such exercises, my son not only feels good about math, but also gets top scores in school. I'm happy.

I bought a number of workbooks from several series for my children to work with over the summer. DK workbooks (which were inferior in every way and I returned all 4), the Complete Book series, the Scholastic Success series (which are really intended for in-school supplementation but were okay for use over the summer), and the Spectrum series. The Spectrum and Complete Book Of series were superior in every way to the other workbooks and I will order from them again next summer.

Because this book is targeted at teachers, the material is of that busy-work style: brainteasers, do simple math and answer the riddle, etc. It does not follow a clear order for advancing or teaching. It's more practice-oriented. It is perfect for summer supplementation or in-school enrichment, but would not be a good choice for a homeschooler.

The pages are black and white -- good for photocopying, but could be boring.

If you are looking for some straight forward practice with 2nd grade math skills, this is not the right book. Most of these activities require more than one step, for example: solve the addition problem then use the answer to plot a point on the graph. This book is not at the beginner's level, but is fine for students who need a challenge.

We purchased this book for our grandson who has taken an interest in this subject. When he comes to our home, we love to help challenge him and he takes delight in the book. We are happy to have purchased this book not only for our one on one time with him but the knowledge he is gaining from it.

I bought this book for my daughter to do as a summer workbook between 1st and 2nd grades. The material in the book is poor. The exercises are odd and confusing for children. The quality of the pages is also very low grade. It looks like a group people put together a bunch of random and odd pages to throw together this book. I'm an engineer, so it's not like I don't understand math. This book is a waste of money (don't let it's cheap price tempt you)!

I really love this book-my students liked it and it had a lot of pictures!!!

My son has really enjoyed working on this workbook and he seems to go back to it even though we have finished just about all of the pages.
