School Bugs: An Elementary Pop-up Book by David A. Carter

My daughter loves pop-up books. (They remain high on a shelf out of reach and we only read them together so she can't damage them). We have quite a collection now and her favorites are definitely these "bugs" books by Carter. We already have several and I came on Amazon to order more for my nieces and nephews for Christmas. I usually order books that have the most/best reviews. Being that this book only had one review I figured it wasn't as popular as the others for a reason, but took a chance and ordered it anyhow. I am so glad I did! She likes this one the best (and so do I). Each page has a different box that open up to reveal various "bugs". A math box, an art box, a music box.....you get the idea. The music box has the Beetle Bugs (who look like The Beatles - ha!) My daughter's favorite box was the lunchbox which when opened revealed a sandwich inside. And I started to turn the page but she stopped me and opened the sandwich (leave it to a 3 year old to know that it opens up!!!!) But the best part of this book (and the most amazing) is the last page which has a playground. Bugs are hanging, swinging, climbing and going down the slide. The pop-up comes up 6 inches off the page and is 3D. My daughter just stared at it and then said "WOW mommy look at that!" And personally I think everyone should buy this book so their kids can say that too.

My boys (now age 5 & 9) ADORE David A. Carter's pop-up books in his "Bug" series and have for years!! We have a rather large collection of them. We haven't found one yet that they didn't enjoy. The artwork is engaging, the pop-up's are creative & the writing is silly & funny!

I probably wouldn't recommend the books for under the age of 3 to read/play with (unless the caregiver is handling the book) as some of the tabs & artwork can be torn if handles roughly. Once the kids have the hang of "touch nicely", these books are great for fun for all!!

My kids and I love David A. Carter books. The bugs were cute and the story was entertaining for a preschooler / early reader.

My daughter has loved these bug books since she was about 5 months old. When she sees them she gets super excited!! :-) very well done series.

I sent this book to my grand daughter. She can read it and she loves it. Especially the last page. She wants to read it every night.

My grand son started school this year and he has all of the other Bug Books in the series, so this one will be an extra special gift for him. He loves them!
