Book Description

November 2001
Robert Amiss is in a mess, and he faces the indignity of life on the dole. So when his old friends in the CID ask him for help, he is in no position to refuse. Strange things have been happening at the Knightsbridge School of English. One teacher has met a suspicious death and another has been attacked, apparently the victim of a random mugging. Are the two events connected? Amiss unwillingly agrees to be the CID's mole at the school.

Editorial Reviews

From AudioFile

Robert Amiss, the civil servant protagonist in several of Edwards's mysteries, has resigned his bureau-cratic post and hasn't a clue about what his next career more will be. Enter two CID friends with a request that he perform undercover work at the Knightsbridge School of English--a most unusual school. Several murders later, all plots and villains are revealed, and Amiss rejoins the ranks of the unemployed. Bill Wallis delivers a superb reading of this involved, implausible, yet entertaining mystery. Each character is so distinctly individual that it's like listening to a play performed by a full cast. And his pacing of conversation gives one the sense of eavesdropping. A virtuoso performance. R.E.K. © AudioFile 2001, Portland, Maine-- Copyright © AudioFile, Portland, Maine
