Engaging and Fun!,

This review is from: School of Hard Knocks (Ginger Barnes Main Line Mysteries) (Mass Market Paperback)
Murray's heroine, the plucky impulsive Ginger Barnes, is a full-time wife and mom who slyly reconciles her son to his failure to make the track team, gives affordable wine-and-cheese parties, walks the family dog, plants impatiens by the dozen, and housecleans for the elderly neighborhood eccentric. In School of Hard Knocks, the never-neurotic ever-resourceful housewife deals with a rash of bludgeonings (one fatal), financial hanky-panky, a series of anonymous threats, and the mystery of her hubby's inattentiveness. Familiar locales are well-observed and minor characters especially pungent.

Great fun to read. I especially loved the next-door neighbor and her antics. She's my favorite character, too. The ending doesn't disappoint!

Terrific mystery,

I live in the area where this story takes place, so I can easily imagine the fuss Letty and her dilapidated old mansion would cause. And, of course, mugging and murder next door freak out everybody everywhere. It's an engaging mystery with fascinating characters.
