Book Description

Devotional Classics June 1, 2004
With great gentleness, sensitivity, and support, Andrew Murray describes the necessity of obedience, its enabling means, and its benefits. “The Father in heaven asks, and requires, and actually expects, that every child of His yield Him whole-hearted and entire obedience, day by day, and all the day. To enable His child to do this, He has made a most abundant and altogether sufficient provision in the promise of the New Covenant, and in the gift of His Son and Spirit.” The School of Obedience is a pastoral encouragement that exudes tender humility, warmth, and a magnanimous spirit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for those Christians ready for real change..., May 31, 2005
This review is from: Blessings Of Obedience (Paperback)
No feel-good message here. No fire and brimstone either. Just clear, biblical exhortation from a man with an obvious heart for following God. Murray's main point is that complete obedience, while impossible to practice, must be an absolute commitment on our part for us to walk in Christ. Basic things that are rote memorized truths in Christians minds are here restated in a way that will prod you to reconsider your level of true, deep obedience. I highly reccomend this book for anyone hungering for more...

5.0 out of 5 stars Obediance at its Simplest, June 5, 2009
Yet another 'little, unassuming' book...not! For many years, I've struggled to become more intimate in my relationship and understanding of Christ. I picked up this dusty little gem from the oblivion of my overstuffed bookcase.

Its truths are revolutionary and freeing, enriching and deeply freeing. Yet, to apply these truths is tough on the flesh. My pride and self-sufficiency were challenged. At the turn of each page, I became ever more aware of my own stubborn independence. To give these things to God was a challenge but I am the better for it.

What I admire about Murray's writing is that he was gifted to disseminate complex Biblical truths into bite-sized bits that one can understand and digest. He's quite gifted at this.

If you want to grow closer to God, read and apply the truths in this book.

This review is from: Blessings Of Obedience (Paperback)
This book opened my eyes to God's requirement for obedience in our lives. I now understand that we are to follow Jesus' example and obey Him 'unto death'. The author presents a detail spiritual analysis of obedience and God's willingness to help us obey.

Great for anyone stugglinging to obey God in any area of their lives. I will keep this book to re-read whenever the need arises.
