Carolyn Keene is the author of the ever-popular Nancy Drew (All New) Girl Detective and Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew series.

Macky Pamintuan was born and raised in Davao, a city in the southern Philippines. As a young child, drawing was his favorite pastime and an activity that brought him delight and satisfaction. Early on, his parents discovered that giving him paper and pencil was a sure way to keep him busy, quiet, and out of trouble. He still remembers the day when he successfully drew Mickey Mouse and Superman, a huge breakthrough and a sweet triumph. He moved to San Francisco at age 21 and in 1998 enrolled in the Academy of Art College to pursue illustration. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in December 2003 and placed on the President's Honor List. When not illustrating, Macky enjoys playing basketball, his other true passion.

More About the Author

Macky Pamintuan was born and raised in Davao, Philippines. Early on, his parents discovered that giving him paper and pencil was a sure way to keep him busy, quiet and out of trouble.

He moved to San Francisco, California in 1998 and earned his BFA in illustration at the Academy of Art University in 2003.

His past clients have included HarperCollins publishers, Sterling Publishing, Simon & Schuster, Random House, Bloomsbury USA, Mcgraw-Hill, Scott Foresman, Soundprints & Peaceable Kingdom Press.

When not illustrating, Macky enjoys rooting for aging sports teams to keep things interesting. He currently lives in the Philippines with his wife, Aymone, their daughter, Alison, and their wily dog, Winter.

Synopsis: It's a wonderful winter day and Nancy, George and Bess are at Mount Fun Ski Lodge. Nancy and George have fun learning how to ski, but Bess learns so well that she is awarded "Best New Skier" at the lodge.

However, things start going wrong for Bess when someone smashes all the equipment in the equipment shed. Bess is accused of being the culprit, since her skis were the only ones that weren't damaged, and her mitten was found underneath the equipment. Nancy and George know that Bess couldn't have done it and try to clear her name by identifying the real culprit. They narrow their suspects to:

* Blizzard - the lodge owner's dog who seems to eat everything that he can get his paws into; did he smash the equipment while looking for food in the shed?

* Jack - a boy who is jealous that Bess won the award instead of him; did he destroy the equipment to spoil her reputation?

* Eddie - an accidental prone who seems to crash into everything; Did he bump into the equipment, and was too scared to admit it?

* Gina - a whiny girl at the lodge who is bored and wants to go home; did she smash the equipment just to spoil everyone else's mood?

Will the Clue Crew solve the mystery in time to clear Bess's name? You have to read to find out.

Review: This was a very interesting book to read. I was completely shocked to find out who the culprit was in the end, as it was someone I didn't even consider. Then I realized how the author had put in clues all over the book that I had failed to consider.

This book had a good mix of mystery and humor. Some parts were hilarious to read, like when Eddie and Gina's father started talking about animal poop. The illustrations are nicely drawn, and I especially liked how the artist drew Jack and Gina. You could make out how snobbish they were from the drawings themselves.

I was a little disappointed that Hannah and Mr. Drew didn't make an appearance in the book. I got used to seeing them regularly in the series, and I thought the book was a little incomplete without their presence in it.

All in all, I thought this was a great addition to the Clue Crew series.

Nancy and her friends are on a ski trip and everyone is having fun. Bess wins a skiing award, and some skiers are jealous of her. When the ski equipment shed gets trashed, and suspicion falls on Bess, it's time for the Clue Crew to get to the bottom of the mystery.

Another entertaining Clue Crew story for middle-grade girls.
