This knife arrived with the box ends taped closed. Inside was the shield in a small plastic baggy along with the knife. Fit was good. Finish was reminiscent of Old Schrade.. Feel OK..
A litte dab of JB Weld secured the shield in place.. This knife had been returned as defective and sent back out to the next sucker (me). I think repairing it instead of enduring the aggravation of getting an RMA, paying to send it back, and maybe getting another in worse shape was the simplest route to take..
