I have had this knife for about a year now, and it is a work horse. It came out of the box pretty sharp, and its really easy to put a good edge on it. The handle is uncomfortable with the finger groove i cut it off and its more like the handle off the original Al Mar Pathfinder now, it was worth it you can get such a good grip with it cut off. The sheath is NOT real leather all though it is pretty thick for pleather, its held up for now. iv put this knife to the test chopping sagebrush, small trees, it will hack through a 2x4 extremely quick for the size of the blade i went though the 2x4 within 3 mins if that, and it stays really sharp though out the abuse. The back edge is beveled but not sharp, if you have the tools such as a nicholson file or flapper disk on a grinder it wont take long to put an edge on the bevel. I used a Nicholson file and it only took me 20 mins tops to get an edge the rest of the time was spent refining the edge, worth the time put in it i now have 2 edges so if one gets dull i have the other to keep on hacking.(its hard to use back edge with finger groove still on handle). Over all i recommend this knife its light, sharp, full tang strong, and cheap.

This is easily a best buy, no one else offers a knife of this quality for this price, mine came extremely sharp and I really like the fit and finish, this unit will be the perfect tool around camp when I am fishing or prospecting, if I need to improvise anything while I am fishing this is the perfect tool for the job, it should hold up for years to come, I really don't care if the Chinese bought the company I cannot change that, but I still like Schrade knifes and this one is no exception.

I purchased this knife specifically for feral hog hunting.
With a little work on my Smiths Sharpening Stone the blade is Razor sharp!
I have yet to find a hog that gives this thing trouble, each kill has been quite quick and highly devastating to vital organs. The blade passes like a hot knife in butter, from one shoulder clean through to the other with ease.
GREAT KNIFE!

This machete is the Chineese Version and is made of a very brittle steel. It broke on a 3/4" oak limb on the second hit. This was the first time we went out with it so I can give you no more feedback than this: The old Schrade products were made in the USA and I have a posket knife handed down from my great uncle which still holds an edge and used at least weekly. This China product IS NO REAL SCHRADE...
