I have been the owner/user of a Schrade multitool since its debut. While it has had it's faults, such as the small screwdriver that doesn't lock and the lock mechanism that can be easily sprung by pushing back on the small screwdriver, the Schrade ST1 multitool was the most comfortable to use, most useful, largest pliers multi-tool I have ever used.

I was very disappointed when Schrade went under, and thrilled when the Chinese version appeared (My old one broke). Wow- the pliers are much smaller, smaller than my leatherman Blast. The tools are stiff and of a lighter gauge metal. This is NOT the same tool. The world waits for someone- Leatherman, are you listening?- to come up with an improved version of this great tool.

Having been a huge fan of my Schrade Multi-Tool, I was devastated when it came up missing. My favorite feature is the fact that I don't have to open the pliers to access the other tools. My second favorite feature is the price. I had forgotten how affordable it was compared to some of the Leatherman and Gerber tools. I went to Dick's, Lowes, Home Depot, called Cabella's and Gander Mountain...no luck. But Amazon had it in stock with quick shipment and I was back in business. One reason why I didn't rate this a "5"...The metal doesn't seem quite as high quality as my older Schrade when it came to the shell. The individual tools are still A+. I don't know if it was a change that took place when Taylor purchased the rights to manufacture/distribute the tools or not, but it isn't as good. The sad ending to the story is that I found my original tool within a week of ordering its replacement. Guess I have a back-up now, and I couldn't ask for a better one.

You know, it's a shame really. Schrade made what was in my opinion one of the best multi-tools for the money. Sure you could buy better but you'd end up spending a lot more. This latest tool from Schrade (It's the same tool really, just manufactured differently in a different place) is a cheap imitation of the original. The metal feel cheap and the jaws are no longer laminated, riveted steel. It's merely cast in one piece out of a cheaper metal. The blades too are not what they were. Too bad too because I was hoping to replace my 18 year old tool with a new one. I will but it won't be with this "new" Schrade.

I own an original Schrade Tough Tool as well as other older Schrade knives. I also have/have used multi-tools from Leatherman, Gerber, and the $ 9.99 Walmart Christmas special (from Winchester, I think?). (I put together two utility carts with the latter item.) So I didn't mind taking a chance on this Taylor Tough Tool - figured it was cheap and would probably work, though not as well as my old one or the other good brands. Boy, was I wrong! Not only is the metal, the locking action on the fold-away tools, and the blade edging poor; the most basic part of the tool - the pliers - were useless! The old tool locked the handles for the pliers by a tough push. These handles wouldn't lock at all. Any pressure applied and the handle bent at the joint, rendering the plier head unworkable. PIECE OF JUNK! It's not worth the hassle returning it. It will either end up in my wastebasket or as a paperweight somewhere. I'll only use the sheath. Don't waste your money on this one.

I had this knife for 7 years and just recently had it confiscated by airport security when I accidentally brought it in my carry-on. Talk about a disappointment!

The think is solid as a rock. You can flip the pliers open like a butterfly knife when you're working on something and only have one available hand. I found that I used the pliers more than anything else, but the knife, saw, screwdriver, can / bottle openers all work great too.

It served me well for 7 years and I was sick to have it taken by TSA. I'm glad to see that I can by another one though. Thank goodness!

I've had one of these for years. Over the past holidays, that one was misplaced for over two weeks. Since I couldn't do without it at work, I found a replacement at Amazon. I was elated because Shrade makes a very good tool and I knew that Shrade had gone under. After it arrived, we were taking down the Christmas tree and there it was, behind the tree. Now I have two of them. You might say I have one for my next lifetime on the planet. The new one was put away and I'm still using the old one which is just as good as the new one, only, the older one is,(broken in!)

I have one of this product in each of my four cars, motorcycle and with my Carhart work pants and chore coat. Its only flaw is that the tabs that restrain the tools from opening beyond their intended limit are not strong enough if too much hypertension is applied in use. The tabs cannot be bent back into place.

I got this tool for my Husband for Christmas. It is not even Christmas yet and this tool has got us out of sticky problems. The oter day I broke a light bulb and the base of the light bulb was still stuck inside of the light so I got into my husband stocking and got it out, it was just what i needed ti get the job done. I have used this tool so many time and it is not even Christmas. I was worried about the quality of this item before I bought it but when I got it a was very happy with it. This item is build tough and is Very handy to have.

Needed to relace this tool after it was stolen. I love it. I use it camping and fishing and even at work.

hello to all amazoner's out there this the best, when you need it, its there and on time, i can tell you a true story about my order, i need it my multi tool, for camping and i was amazed with then 48 hour's i think that it was here 241/2houres man i can tell you its the best, and im waiting for my second order and i can rest at shoure that i know that it will be here on time, thanks amazon you know that you have to be the best, and please keep up the good work, and looking forward to doing bussiness in the near future,absalutly when you have to have it, go amazone, "it the best"!!!!!!!
