Just so's everyone's clear - THE GLASS IS RED to attract the hummingbirds. You do NOT add food coloring to the nectar recipe which causes health problems in the hummers. This is important.
This is another piece of art for the backyard. We have several items from Schrodt Designs in use in the backyard and have received "oohs" and "ahhs" from guests on them. They are beautifully crafted.
We hung this outside our dining room window. At (our) mealtimes we enjoy watching the energetic little birds. And maybe they are amused by watching us!

This item makes a wonderful gift. The red glass is perfect since you can make your own clear nectar to add in it. (Take 2 cups of water, bring to a boil, add a 1/2 cup of white granulated sugar, boil for 2-3 min. and cool)

No yellow flowers on this one to draw bees. Cleans with a narrow bottle brush you can buy. Beautiful craftsmanship on the feeder and the hummers love it!!

The red color feeders are the best ones and I like glass best of all. This one is just pretty to look at in a garden. I have mine on a 5' shepherds' crook planthanger close by a window. The etched glasswork really makes for an eyecatching feeder.

I have had this feeder for years and am ordering another one -- it's unique, pretty, and easy to clean and fill. The hummers love it!

This product is everything I was looking for. I wanted a RED feeder because red really does attract the hummingbirds & I refuse to use food coloring or anything other than 4 parts water to 1 part sugar to my feeders because anything else can make them sick. The feeder is a perfect size, I don't like the real big feeders because I change the nectar every 3 days & the big feeders just waste the nectar. This feeder is also very attractive & adds a unique look to the garden. The way the bottom is shaped allows the little hummingbirds to take a break & perch which is so cute to see! The feeder is also very easy to clean, I use a long bottle brush I bought from a dollar store & it works even in the smallest of spaces. I highly recommend this feeder especially if someone is trying to attract hummingbirds but hasn't yet- the red really catches their eye! Plant some red Bee Balm (latin name Monarda)near this feeder & they wont be able to stay out of your yard!

The bit about red colored solution being bad for the birds is true, but this particular feeder has a red-colored *bottle*. You should still put clear feeding solution in it.

I actually own a much older version of this product, which has a purple bottle and no etchings. Same thing though, and it still works well several years later. I don't find it easy to clean if you are not faithful about cleaning it though. The narrow neck of the bottle makes it hard to remove any residue that may build up.

But it's easy to use and looks really great. Worth the money.

This is a very pretty hummingbird feeder made with red glass so you don't need to color the solution. The etchings on the glass are pretty and it's easy to refill the feeder, which comes with instructions. It's expensive for a feeder but the quality is very good and I am happy with the purchase.

I loved this feeder from the beginning, but I hated all the ants that managed to get inside. I was dumping out loads of them every time I cleaned the feeder. Then I went to the Schrodt Designs website and purchased a small item called the anti-ant. It hangs just above the feeder, and it works like magic! I haven't had one ant since I put the anti-ant up, and I still get all kinds of hummingbirds. My kids love to shout "HUMMINGBIRD" every time they see one at the feeder!

The feeder is fairly easy to clean and pretty attractive. The bottle color has held up in our Arizona desert sun, though the red on the metal petals is fading just a little bit. I fill the feeder with 1 part sugar to 4 parts water, which have been heated (in the microwave), stirred together, and then refrigerated before pouring into the feeder.

I attached the feeder to the ceiling of my patio using some light basket chain that I picked up at Target, and one of those quick-detachable key chain rings that came with the goofy Discover Card 2 Go (you can get this style of key chain at a number of other places, too). The key chain thing makes it easy to disconnect the feeder for cleaning/refilling and when it is connected, I feel confident that it will not disconnect on its own. I haven't yet had a problem with ants in the feeder -- maybe the plant basket chain stuff helps?

Because the feeder bottle is glass, it is easy to get it really clean. The top and bottom are wood, and there is a plastic insert in the bottom which acts as a small reservoir. A metal lid with three red, metal petals sits over the small reservoir. Make sure you get all the parts very clean.

Even though the base diameter is fairly small, I've occasionally had problems with larger birds trying to get at the sugar water. I'm not sure that they are successful, but they crap on it and make a little mess under the feeder where the water falls from their heavy impact.

I've had the HBL-HPR for 3 years now. On 3 or 4 occasions, I've had to (carefully) super glue a metal petals back. Not too bad, but not perfect...

The funny thing with this product is that the glass part looks like it came from a bottle. It's an upside down bottle. Ingenuous, and pretty at the same time.
Maintenance is simple. The hanging chain, with a small ring at the end, is adequate if you have a hook somewhere (like an S-hook).
Not sure where the hummingbirda come from, but they come. Lovely.

This feeder is paradise for Hummingbirds. I have owned one of these for more than ten years and it continues to look and function beautifully. I would recomment this to anyone who loves their bird friends.
