5.0 out of 5 stars Great Clean Design
Unlike a lot of birdbaths, this one has a very clean design (i.e.: lacking cherubs, fake birds, Romanesque column, etc.). This simple design in redwood and copper (which patinas to green) looks great in a natural or Japanese style garden. It is also very durable, and repairing it would be very easy (should the mister nozzle become clogged or lost). We've had ours 3...

We've had ours 3 years and have yet to replace the nozzle. I was initially concerned that the nozzle would become lost, as the copper bowl is pinned in place only by the tiny black plastic nozzle (mated to the water tubing within the copper standpipe). I used silicone to prevent large birds or errant gardeners from toppling it (gluing the copper bowl to the redwood pedestal), though this may not have been necessary (though it didn't change it's appearance). In any case a spare nozzle was included and they are readily available at large garden/hardware stores or from the manufacturer as another reviewer states. The amount of water if left running all day is fairly minimal and -bonus- it will make for happy plants around the base (our strawberries do very well! -with plenty for us and the birds.) Another suggestion would be a water timer, so that you can control for what hours it runs... though we often leave ours on continuously.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this Birdbath, November 11, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Schrodt Designs MBB-12G 12" Misty Bird Bath, Green (Lawn & Patio)
We have had this birdbath for many years (8?) and it still looks great. The birds seem to like the shallow bowl. The company has been terrific when I have called to request replacement misters that have been lost. They send them promptly and FREE. Great buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars The VERY BEST birdbath on the market!, July 11, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Schrodt Designs MBB-12G 12" Misty Bird Bath, Green (Lawn & Patio)
This is the very best birdbath I have ever owned... and I have owned quite a few. Prior to owning this one, I hadn't had much luck attracting birds. With this birdbath, I now have beautiful birds of all kinds flocking (sorry, I couldn't resist) to the birdbath! And, they actually splash around and *bathe* in this thing! It is quite a sight to see and everyone who visits comments on it.

I surrounded it with plants that like "wet feet" since it does produce quite a bit of overflow (if you turn it up all the way, which is how my birds like it).

If you're serious about attracting birds and butterflies, buy one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Water birds and plants at the same time, February 28, 2005

This review is from: Schrodt Designs MBB-12G 12" Misty Bird Bath, Green (Lawn & Patio)
We got this bird bath about a year and a half ago, and we've kept it running year round since then. We live in a dry climate in summer, and the birds really appreciate a nice place to drink and bathe. One big blue jay will fill the bath, but its fun to watch him splash and let the spray sprinkle his back. I stuck this in the middle of a raised flower bed, and I didn't have to water it all summer. The plants loved the extra moisture and I didn't have to think about it. It looks good in the garden, once the birds found it they love it, and it helps water plants...worth the price!

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BIRDS LOVE THIS!!!, March 19, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Schrodt Designs MBB-12G 12" Misty Bird Bath, Green (Lawn & Patio)
The birds in my yard are attracted to this fountain like crazy!!!

Birds are attracted to the sound of running water-- and this fountain is just what they love!

Finches and many other types of birds love my fountain- they not only drink the water- but they also love to play in it, splash around and clean themselves. It is fascinating to watch them!

Since it is so essential to offer water to birds- this type of water source is, in my opinion, the absolute best.

It supplies clean, running and a constant flow of water-- and it is so convenient because you don't have to keep filling it up every day like traditional bird baths.

My only (minor) complaint is that the little plastic spray tip does seem to pop off easily- but you can find replacements at hardware stores.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Birds Galore!, November 26, 2003
By A Customer

We were worried that the water spilling over the edge would be a problem, but it isn't at all ( we turn it off at dark). Actually, we put a pile of rocks underneath the bath and created a spot to collect the overflow, and that created a bath place that the ground birds love. The water is always clean, and you never have to go out and fill it! We have had the bath up for several months and there are birds in it every day, all day long.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy setup & instant results: Survived Hurricane Katrina, September 28, 2005

This review is from: Schrodt Designs MBB-12G 12" Misty Bird Bath, Green (Lawn & Patio)
I accidently orderwd 2 of these bird baths but kept both after watching birds instantly perch next to the simmering water. Hurrican Katerina's eye passed directly over my house (Florida)and only had to remove leaves from bath...a heavier base would be nice but a 99 cent bag of sand secured them upright.
I have had several bird feeders outside all this year with moderate results but the presence of water immediately increased the frequency and number of bird visits. (My 5 indoor cats love the show)
The water pressure valve is slightly difficult to adjust to a water flow level but once it is set the self-cleaning nature of this bath is a maintence free joy. Assembly took less than 5 minutes including water hook-up.

Even after reading the statement from one reviewer who claims to "have had it on for two weeks and not even one bird has tried it", I decided he likely lived in a cave, so I bought the birdbath on the basis of all the positive reviews. Now after 2 ˝ weeks I have to admit the same thing; not one bird has tried it. We've always had a regular birdbath in the middle of our yard where a variety of birds come to drink and bathe, but not one will come near the Misty birdbath. To force them to see what they were missing, we emptied the regular birdbath for a few days. We are having severe drought conditions this summer but despite that, the Misty Birdbath is nothing more than an small, expensive, misty pan of water.
I am wondering though if city birds are braver than country birds. Maybe country birds are more leery of the Misty Birdbath and it will take longer for them to become brave enough to take the literal plunge. When we moved to the country from the city we did notice that Robins and other common birds were less tolerant of humans. So on that basis, whether that tolerance stuff is true or not, I'll give the Misty Birdbath 3 stars because if it ever does attract birds for us, it'll be an excellent way to provide fresh water for them all the time.

...Now that it's late October I can give the total bird-visit count to our Misty Bird Bath from July through mid October. If I count the one time one English Sparrow lighted on the side of the birdbath for about three seconds, that'll bring the total bird-visit count to 1.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fly Through Shower, January 23, 2007
This review is from: Schrodt Designs MBB-12G 12" Misty Bird Bath, Green (Lawn & Patio)
My hummingbirds love to shower in the spray from the bath. They then sit on a nearby branch and fluff. This bath is best for small birds. They are attracted to the sound of the water falling in the bath. We also enjoy the movement and sound of the fountain.
