5.0 out of 5 stars Passionate Schubert
As a previous reviewer has stated, this Schubert is played at a fast tempo, and is somewhat agitated. This is especially true for the E Flat trio. Although some will, no doubt, dislike the CD for that, I enjoyed the music played that way. The sound quality (recorded 1987 and 1982) is great as well. 3.0 out of 5 stars Schubert A little too fast
Trio No. 2 is passionate but not agitated music...it requires space and, more importantly, time. This performance gives it too little of either. Otherwise, the material on this CD is well-played.

This review is from: Schubert: Piano Trios; Sonatensatz; Notturno; Grand Duo (Audio CD)
The piano sound is much sharper than the piano sound on the previous recording that I heard of these works. Those who dislike the fast tempos might think the piano is too harsh. For those who sometimes find Schubert's music to be overly long, this recording is definitely for you. There are no points where I feel that the music is dragging. The music is exciting, vigorous, and passionate. I highly recommend these recordings.

I really enjoyed this album. Not knowing Schubert's chamber music very well, I was pleasantly surprised at the depth of the music, while the quality of the performance is great. Highly recommended.
