Excellent 1st book for learning techical analysis,
By A Customer
This review is from: Schwager on Futures: Technical Analysis (Hardcover)
This book covers all the basic topics for techical analysis for futures including oscillators, basic terminology, trend analysis, Japanese candlesticks, etc. The best part of the book is a large section that has real world trading examples: a graph showing a market, Schwager's trendlines on the graph, and reasons to enter the trade. You decide if you agree and then turn the page to see if you made or lost money. This is very useful way to see if you paid attention to the explanatory parts of the book. Overall it is easy to read and well worth it if you are interested in trading futures

A MUST READ SERIES FOR WHOEVER WANTS TOTRADE IN FUTURES,
By A Customer
This review is from: Schwager on Futures: Technical Analysis (Hardcover)
This Series "Schwager on Futures" is the biggest work has ever been written on futures trading. As a Futures Trader I advise everybody to read these books before to starts any real trading in Futures, that if not taken in the proper way can be very painfull. As a Member of IFTA(International federation Of Tecnical Analisys)I suggest you to read it joint with John Murphy's "Technical Analisys f Futures Markets" and "Intermarket Technical Analisys" this will give you a integral knowledge of Futures Environment that is what you need on your Trading philosophy. I always let these books on my desk because I need them so many times during my trading day. THEY ARE A REAL REFERENCE. The good thing of this series is that you can test your comprension by the various study guides. Reading the book about "Managed Trading" You can even get able to judge the returns of the various CTA and decide when it is better to invest in them and to whom give your money.Probably you are not be interested in the Fundamental analisys book but remember, especially in the commodities markets, EVEN IF YOU ARE GOING TO TRADE TECHNICALLY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND FUNDAMENTAL ANALISYS!!! Thank you very much to have spent all this time for read me. If you still have some doubts do not hesitate to contact me at my E-mail. Buon Trading!!!

A Complete Guide to Technical Analysis,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Schwager on Futures: Technical Analysis (Hardcover)
Now don't get me wrong by the title, there are more methods of Technical Analysis than Schwager covers in this book...However, his many years of actually trading against analytical methods has given him great insight and time to study, characterize and rate the value of many of the most common analytical methods. He is quick to point out in several places in the book that these are "Western" analytical methods, practiced in the Euro-American world of futures trading. The beginning of the book is a laborious and elementary but complete description of basic technical techniques. The later chapters talk about building trading systems using combinations of the techniques discussed in the beginning. There is a fair amount of history lesson given as to how the methods were 'discovered' or derived. In general, although ponderous to get through, I think that this detailed analysis allows the reader to believe in the method, the author, and the application of the method. I highly recommend this book as the single basic reference that a technical trader cannot ignore.

I first read his book in paperback "Getting Started in Tech Analysis." Both books cover the same info, except the above reviewed book has more details on trading systems and has a lot more graphs and examples, which I felt I did not need. I would recommend the less costly paperback version - it is EXCELLENT!

An excellent guide to technical analysis,
By
This review is from: Schwager on Futures: Technical Analysis (Hardcover)
For anyone interested in a technical rather than fundamental approach to trading (like we are), this book has to be considered the definitive text. Although oriented around futures trading, all the information presented is equally relevant to any instrument type with a little thought and adaptation.
This is more of a reference text, and contains too much information to simply read it once and put it back on the shelf. If you study this book, by the time you get to the end you will know as much about technical analysis as you ever needed to know, and will probably have thought of a significant number of ideas for new trading systems as well.

A great reference,

I found other books on TA to be more useful for reading straight through and overcoming the learning curve on TA (e.g. Technical Analysis Explained, Martin Pring *****).
Although, because this book contains so much information, it is a great reference to have in your library. You will find yourself looking for more information on topics that other books don't cover in a lot of depth, so it is important to have a few good reference books. It also contains sections on developing strategies which some may find useful, although, "THE" single best resource on developing a strategy is Schwager's Market Wizards series (5x*).

CareerDayTrader.com - Excellent book on Technical Analysis,
By A Customer
This review is from: Schwager on Futures: Technical Analysis (Hardcover)
A companion to his fundamental analysis book. The author of this book has admitted that he was not that sure that very short term patterns could be exploited in the market by off floor traders until he met particular market wizards. An excellent book for background understandings of Technical analysis. We read this book a few years ago and it left the readers believing they should trade flag patterns and measured moves.

This book hurt my head!,
This review is from: Schwager on Futures: Technical Analysis (Hardcover)
I read this book ... I was thoroughly impressed.I had read Schwager Market Wizards books after I had read this Technical books on trading. And although I liked it, I found many of the charts and graphs quite tedious. On the other hand was thoroughly impressed at level of information that was being presented. This book is a permanent part of my collection solely because it reads more like a college text book than a commercial investment book. He really delves deep and makes you think about what futures really are and what it takes to decipher their movements. I am looking forward to his comments on single stock futures.
