4.0 out of 5 stars Board recertification, December 12, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Schwartz' Principles of Surgery: Self-Assessment and Board Review, Eighth Edition (PRETEST PRINCIPLES OF SURGERY) (Paperback)
This was an easy, inexpensive review for the ABS recertification exam. The format of the questions is similar to those on the exam. Having the critiques on the same page as the questions makes it easy to read. I also went through SESAP. The SESAP format was more cumbersome. The questions and critiques are separated and the question format was more complex than the exam. The only drawback to the Schwartz review, is the lack of a critical care section. Good luck on your exam!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent self testing, August 11, 2009

This review is from: Schwartz' Principles of Surgery: Self-Assessment and Board Review, Eighth Edition (PRETEST PRINCIPLES OF SURGERY) (Paperback)
This self assessment edition is a much more improved version over the previous one. The solutions/answers are given next to the quiz page and that saves a lot of time while one is going through a list of questions and wants to know the answer after each ( no need to turn all the pages and go to the end of the book to find the relevant answers). Overall the presentation is good and handy. The contents are as good as ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cogent and comprehensive self-assessment tool, December 20, 2007
This review is from: Schwartz' Principles of Surgery: Self-Assessment and Board Review, Eighth Edition (PRETEST PRINCIPLES OF SURGERY) (Paperback)
This book is a good tool for self assessment. The explanations to the answers add to your understanding of the subject. Gives key tables at the end of a chapter. On the whole an excellent resource for the ABSITE exam and the general surgery written boards.
