About Exercise Bikes
Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

Since it was supposedly under warranty I called the Schwinn Customer Service number.

That being said, as others have noted the box came pretty beat up, but nothing was damaged in mine and all the parts were there.

So I would recommend that if anyone is considering buying this bike to try getting it locally.

As a kid, I had two different Schwinn bicycles, both of which I liked.

This exercise bike delivers a lot for the money. For someone who simply needs the ability to do simple conditioning, this bike will function well.

One note of caution - the packaging will arrive at your doorstep looking like the contents must be totally thrashed. My bike wasn't damaged, but one washer had fallen out through a large hole in the box. Schwinn sent me a replacement promptly.

Pros: Performance, small size, quiet. I'm a male of average size/build in early 30s who hasn't really worked out in years, and this bike gave me a good 500 calorie workout right off the bat. It's quiet enough to watch TV at a regular volume while I work out and small enough to easily keep out of the way when not in use. And, although the Schwinn folks can't get me a replacement part anytime soon, the service people are actually located in the US and the rep with whom I dealt was extremely friendly. The computer on the bike is intuitive and works well. Installation wasn't simple but wasn't overly difficult either.

Cons: Packaging, replacement part delivery time. The bike arrived in a box that looked like it had been used to test bombs. The packaging is simply not adequate. The rear stabilizer had a huge dent/scratch in it but was usable. The part was so bad that the two plastic end parts were both torn to bits (they house the levelers). They are going to replace it but are quoting a three-month replacement time for the part. It was also missing one of the curved washers as one of the fasteners had backed out of the bike and the washer evidently found its way out of one of the many packaging holes, while the fastener itself hadn't. It's also very heavy, unbalanced, and bulky as packaged - I strapped mine to a dolly to get it inside and up the stairs. If you don't have a dolly, you better get one before trying to lug this thing around.

All in all, I'm pleased because it performs well and would get 5 stars from me minus the packaging issue (which would make part delivery a no-issue if it was good enough). It would be well worth Schwinn's time to raise the price 10 bucks and spend the money on better packaging.

I was actually surprised at how much this bike exceeded my expectations. It's more than quiet, it's SILENT. Very good resistance settings and even a nice variety of programs. The bike is sturdy and easy to put together. It's compact and doesn't take up a lot of room and the seat is also quite comfortable. I couldn't be more happy with this purchase. For those concerned about the shipping issues that were raised, my box had a dent or two, but the contents were fine and there were no missing parts.

Once we finally got the bike together & working properly, we found it very easy to use. Very Friendly User! Which we both (my husband & myself) believe is a great advantage to help us get on it to use it, daily. We like it's sleek size, fits just right our small living room.

I must admit in the beginning getting all the pieces here, unbroken was challenging. Much of a headache, but every one we worked with was very friendly and helpful. We eventually got it all put together. and now we love our bike.

This bike is compact and a great deal as mentioned in the other reviews. It works for taller people (my husband and I are both over 6 feet) just fine, but is a little strained when trying to do a standing biking workout-- great if you remain sitting the whole time. Manual and programs work great and it is lightweight to move in and out of it's storage spot by the wall to its use spot in the middle of the room. Be sure you have a plug nearby for it is a short cord, or get an extension cord.

This is by far the best purchase I have made in years. Although the box was beat up on arrival, inside all the pieces were fine. My teenage daughter and I had it put together in about 30-45 minutes with no problems. The choice of resistance is great and it's size is perfect for a small living room. There is virtually no sound, you can EASILY watch TV while doing an intense workout and hear every word. The bike adjusts to fit almost every height and it even comes with it's own tools so it takes seconds to do. You can't go wrong with a Schwinn! Great quality and a big bang for your buck!

I was torn between this bike and the Airdyne. After much deliberation, I chose this bike. The price is right, the technology is just what I need, the size is perfect, and it is so quiet.
The best thing, I think is the silence of the workout. I am able to watch TV with my husband while getting a workout.
The option of using the pre-programemed terrains or the manual resistance is really nice, and it's fun to switch things up.
Delivery was right on time, the box was a bit bruised, but nothing major. All the parts were there, and my 9-year-old and I had it together in about 45 minutes.
My only con: I wish it offered the upper-body workout that the Airdyne offers. I will just have to get that on my Bowflex. All-in-all, this is a great workout option, and I would recommend it to anyone trying to get in shape.
