4.0 out of 5 stars Worth the price but somewhat flimsy plastic wheel
The training wheels are sufficient as advertised, but they may not hold up for long. If your youngster is just starting out, they may not last through his or her entire learning experience. They certainly won't be able to be passed down to a second child learning to balance on two wheels, unless the first one was very light in weight and mastered it quickly. Still...

3.0 out of 5 stars Schwinn training wheels are OK... Slip
These training wheels are easy to install however the bike we have has a thicker than usual bar going to the back of the bike and the training wheels constantly slip and spin around even when very tight. It had a rubber guard so it doesn't slip which is good but seems that the cut out just isn't wide enough for our bike. The other trouble with it is that the plastic...

These training wheels are easy to install however the bike we have has a thicker than usual bar going to the back of the bike and the training wheels constantly slip and spin around even when very tight. It had a rubber guard so it doesn't slip which is good but seems that the cut out just isn't wide enough for our bike. The other trouble with it is that the plastic chain guard had to be removed to make them work on this bike and there's no way to put back on with them attached, a hazard. I don't know if it's meant specifically for Schwinn bikes or not, maybe that's the problem. I wouldn't have bought again for those reasons...

They certainly won't be able to be passed down to a second child learning to balance on two wheels, unless the first one was very light in weight and mastered it quickly. Still though, probably a good purchase for the price, in that you can get at least two sets of these for the price of a more durable and quality set.

They mount easily and you can assemble them with the proper tools while your toddler waits and enjoy the entire experience of putting them together and trying them out together.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Training Wheels for a 12" bike, June 28, 2010

This review is from: Schwinn Boy Bicycle Training Wheels (Sports)
I put these on a 12" bicycle for our 3 year old boy. They are easy to install and work well for him. It says that they are adjustable in size to fit a larger bike, but since they are designed to fit many different bikes they are not as sturdy as previous sets we've had that were designed for the bikes they came with. If you have a child that is older and may be harder on the bike than a three year old would be, its possible that one side of the training wheels might rotate out of position if knocked or kicked out of place. Its easy to put it back into position and retighten it, but i've noticed I can knock it out of position with a good hard whack of the hand. Overall these are still very good for the price we paid for them and are working well for our son.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good value, May 24, 2010

I purchased these training wheels for my son's 20" Mongoose bike and overall I'm very satisfied with them. Very easy to install and work as they are supposed to. My only complaint is that the brace that rests on the frame will occaisonally slip out of position if he rides his bike on unlevel terrain (grass), but this has never caused the training wheels to fail. I just make sure to keep an eye on them, and adjust if neccesary. The quality of these training wheels doesn't match those that come with bikes, but are an acceptable add-on for those bikes that don't have them. For the price, I would purchase these again.

3.0 out of 5 stars Adequate But Could Have Paid Less, February 9, 2010

This manufacturer makes training wheels that they sell as Boys and Girls. Total joke. Bought these since my son thought the flame design on the wheels was cool and would match his bike. "Flames" are simply a sticker decal that you apply and the one in our package wasn't even flames - it was a puppy! Save yourself the money and just buy the Girls version and don't apply the sticker.

Otherwise these are adequate for my needs. Nothing super but will do the trick.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just what we needed, decorative stickers had no adhesion, but who cares, January 27, 2010

This was just what we needed. Retail stores seemed to be all sold of training wheels, so Amazon saved us for Christmas. These seem to be perfectly good quality and installation was easy. The stickers they came with had barely any adhesion and wouldn't stick to the wheels, technically a product flaw since the image shows them already on the wheels, but who really cares. If it was that important I'd just use glue.

I got these for my 4 year-old son's non-Schwinn bike (which I bought second-hand without training wheels).

They work fine, but there are a couple of things I'd like you to know (since because you're reading this review you're doing research to find the best product).

First, the metal brackets (especially those that brace the training wheel upright supports against the lower stays (the horizontal bars between the crank and the rear wheel) seem flimsy and easily bent, but they're not. There is some bendability in them (necessary in my case because of point #2), but not too much. You'll need pliers or channel-locks to bend them to fit if necessary.

The second point I'd like to bring up is the round notches on the lower stay braces (in the product image, they're the cut-outs covered by the black rubberized coating) are too narrow for all stay diameters. I had to slightly bend them to ensure they were secure on the lower stays, but they've been fine since.

Overall a good product. Not great, but a good value for the price.

These training wheels fit well for my son"s small bike. Seems like they would fit bigger bikes as well. Sturdy with nice color.

3.0 out of 5 stars Training Wheels, December 12, 2011

Training Wheels are okay for moderate use. If the child stays on even terrain on road, he should have very few problems. As the construction and design of the training wheels is average, Schwinn Boy Bicycle Training WheelsI would not recomend for vigourous or off road use.
