We were wondering if we should get a tricycle or a bicycle for our 2 year old boy initially and chanced upon this bike on amazon. It is an excellent purchase for us.

1) The bike is sturdy and does not topple easily.
2) The push handle allows parents to steer the bike if needed. This is really a "plus plus" point for parent with a young kid.
3) The height of the seat can be adjusted and training wheels and the push handle can be removed once the child can cycle on his own.

Our boy is in the 50th percentile in terms of height and he can easily put his legs on the pedals. We need to push him a little with the handle bar but he has started to pedal as soon as his second attempt on his bike. Right now, he tries to stand on the pedals occasionally imitating grown ups. With a helmet and proper guidance, it is a safe and excellent bike for a child to pick up proper cycling skills.

Overall, we are please with the bike. It is easy to assemble and was shipped to us on Thanksgiving Day. The price is slightly higher than other bikes or trikes but it is likely to last till our boy is 4 - 5 years old. It is worthwhile and we would definitely recommend it to other families.

I just got this bike for my son 4th birthday. It's a functional bike since you can remove the training wheels and the push handle, and adjust the seat height. So far,I'm happy with this bike. However, the water bottle stinks with plastic. It's better to throw out that cup and use a better quality cup, you don't want your child to drink the chemical coming from that cheap thing. Happy purchase and a great deal with free shipping.

This bike is great! Got it for my son's 4th birthday and he loves riding it. He is very tall, about 45 inches and this bike fits him great. I
highly recommend this. My son has autism and has a hard time steering and pedaling at the same time so the parent push/steer handle is perfect!!

This bike has been so much fun for our little boy(3 yrs old) since he recieved it for Christmas. He loves riding it. Its just the right size, but he has plenty of room to grow with the seat & handle bar adjustments. We love that it has the handle so we can push and steer the bike if he gets tired. Although if he fights the steering (say by insisting he rides in the grass but instead we keep him on the sidewalk)we do have to straighten the handle bars when we get home. The only negative is that the handle sticking up in back makes it difficult for him to swing his leg over to get on or off. But once he's riding well on his own we'll be able to remove the bar & it won't be an issue.

I like this bike, and my 2 year old does too. However after 2 months of light use (3-4 rides and my 2 year old pushing it around the yard) the steering cables became tangled making my steering handle useless. I asked my husband to fix it and he said its not a fixable problem. So I found a 800 number on the bike and called.

I was surprised to learn that the warranty is covered by Pacific-cycle and not Schwinn even though the bike says its a Schwinn (not that it really matters). The lady I spoke to was very helpful. She told me that she could send the parts but replacing them is difficult. She also informed me that there have been quite a few calls with the same issue and that it is easier and better if they just send me a new replacement bike. All I had to do was email pictures of the bike, the broken parts, along with my information.

I don't know how long the next bike will hold up, but with such easy warranty service I am still pleased with the bike.

Got this for my son for christmas. Seems like a great bike, only downfall I had was the handle system.

I didn't put the handle on at all, it connects to the bike and allows you to turn the front tire/handle bars to control where your kid goes. The only problem is that the system on the bike we got was screwed up, would only allow the handlebars to turn to the left and not the right. I removed the cables that operated it and now the bike works like a regular bike. Other than that it seems nice, my boy loves it. Sometime he revs it up like a motorcycle because he's cool.

The idea behind this bike is great, but the very first time we took our two year old twin boys out to ride them, the handles on the back for the parent to steer them with somehow disconnected from the steering mechanism. We have the ability to push them, but not to steer them. That was basically the reason we bought these bikes although we felt they were a bit expensive for 12-inch bikes. Maybe there is a way to fix the problem, but neither my husband nor I are all that "handy". The bikes seem sturdy and I like that they have real tires (some small bikes have plastic tires). Based on other reviews I'm guessing that this isn't a common problem, but I can't rate it more than 2 stars because neither bike we purchased works as it should.
