Great Bike but POOR shipping/packing,

This is a great bike. My son loves it. Only part on the bike that is a slight negative is that the coaster brake makes noise when you are coasting down a hill or after pedaling fast. I bought it on Amazon for his birthday.
When we took it out of the box, the forks had been crushed during shipping. They were squished together so the ends were only about 2 1/2 inches apart. It took 3 hours of using various spreaders, including a disc brake tool to get them somewhat back to normal. I did not want to return it since it was already his birthday. In summary: 1. Great Bike. 2. The flimsy box was full of puncture holes and tears 3. The lack of adequate packing/box design allowed a heavier item to compress the forks and 'ruin' the bike. If you order it for a gift, check it out before the event so there is no 'surprise' when your anxious 8 year old is watching :)

Wish I had read the reviews first. A little strange that we all have had the same issue with the bike. The front forks are too close together so you can't put the front wheel on. I am sure my husband will lose his temper trying to get this to work by Christmas.

I wanted to return the bike but they wouldn't send us prepaid shipping label. Yes, I did not want to invest another $100 to ship this scrap metal back. It took us 2 months to get a replacement fork, after numerous emails back and forth, they finally sent us a fork to the wrong address... The last response was "send us first fork back", that's all, no hello, no please, no thank you, no sorry, no bye, no nothing. You can not stretch it out by yourself, it just snaps back right away, it wasn't damaged during shipping, it's impossible, it was bent and twisted at the same time, it's obvious that it was made this way in China, no quality control whatsoever! Our 2+ months vacation is over, we replaced the fork, but wait! the back wheel is not spinning right or doesn't spin at all, please note this is not a malfunction of the brake, there is something wrong with the whole construction, it's way hard to pedal if it spins. We bought it for a special occasion, I am glad we were able to rent another bike for the whole summer. This one has never been used, 10 minutes and failed. Never again Schwinn! Waste of our time, money, etc. I will buy a different brand next time.
