The bike arrived very quickly using the free shipping service. The assembly was quick and easy. The tires need to be inflated. The bike has both front and rear hand breaks plus it also has back pedal breaking too. This is a great feature since my 7 year old daughter is not accustomed to the hand breaks yet.

I would recommend this bike to any young girl

We ordered this bike for my youngest daughter's birthday this past September. The bike arrived the day before her birthday, and I took it out of the box to assemble that evening. After getting all of the pieces out of the box, we discovered that the bike was purple, NOT blue, the decals were completely different from the picture, and there was no butterfly for the front wheel. My wife and I were pretty upset about the issue, so we called Amazon to arrange for a replacement to be shipped. Amazon's customer service line was extremely helpful, and the guy we talked to apologized a great deal and agreed to ship a replacement bike immediately. He also sent a call tag for the incorrect package, which we had to pack back into the box it came in (NOT an easy task!). We explained the situation to our daughter the next day (which was her birthday), and we felt horrible that she wouldn't get to have fun with a new bike on her special day. Well, two days later the new bike arrived (impressive shipping time if you ask me), so my wife and I started unpacking the box to assemble the bike. Much to our dismay the bike in the box was again not the same as the picture on the Amazon web site. It was again purple, with completely different decals, and NO BUTTERFLY! We showed it to our daughter, and she decided that she wanted to keep it anyway. Still, my wife and I are extremely dissapointed with what we received. We do not really blame Amazon though, because the bike we received IS a Schwinn Mist 20-inch model, and we figure that Schwinn may have simply replaced the previous butterfly model with this purple unit. However, I think Amazon should really update their web site to show the correct colors and style. The purple version is very plain looking compaired to the one shown on the web site. It is a very well made bike, with heavy-duty hardware. Adjusting the calliper brakes was a bit of a chore, but the total assembly took us little more than 20 minutes. The tires on this bike are really FAT! They look almsot freakish! I don't know why Schwinn would go with such wide tires, but I assume it is supposed to make for a more comfortable and stable riding experience. Overall we feel that the bike was a good value, given the solid hardware and the modest price. However, we cannot give it a very high rating because it is NOT what we ordered, and every time we look at it we just feel dissapointed. When you pick something special for your child, to be given as a gift, you really don't feel good about giving them something less. Still, we give Amazon customer service 5 stars for being friendly, courteous, and for shipping out a replacement so quickly. You just don't get service at this level much these days. =o)

THIS IS A QUALITY BUILT BIKE! ASSEMBLY IS EASY AND SHIPPING IS FAST. I ONLY HAD ONE PROBLEM WITH THE ORDER...THE FIRST BIKE WAS DAMAGED BADLY, BUT AMAZON QUICKLY SENT ANOTHER ONE. I ORDERED THIS FOR MY 9 YR OLD DAUGHTER AND SHE LOVES IT. SCHWINN HAS ALWAYS BEEN A QUALITY BIKE COMPANY AND I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THIS PURCHASE.

Unfortunately, this bike arrived damaged. The front forks were bent. It was not double boxed nor were the front forks adequately protected. Amazon return process is really good.

The child this was bought for needed training wheels, but the rear wheels had such a short hub, covered by a flimsy red cover that the training wheels cannot be used. They fall right off. The chain cover is not properly fitted either. I would not buy this again.

Do not buy this bicycle!

I bought this bike for my daughter's birthday only to find out when it arrived that the front wheel will not fit on the forks. It is too large to fit into the slots on the front forks meaning the bike is useless. We have found out that this bike ships from a third party whom we are now trying to contact to correct the situation, but needless to say this will delay our daughter's birthday present.

Please take this warning, and keep shopping.

This is a very pretty and sturdy bike for girls. My daughter is 9 and loves it. We only had one problem with it when it arrived with a broken reflector but that was easily remedied. It was simple to put together, although my husband does have some experience with bikes. For the price it is a great purchase.

A few weeks before Christmas I ordered this bike for my 7 year old daughter. I wanted to get her something that was of decent quality she could use for the next few years. I didn't want to spend too much because if she really gets into cycling she will want to upgrade to a more sophisticated bike, but if not this bike will allow her to pedal around the neighborhood for some time to come.

Unfortunatley, there were problems with the bike from the start. I ordered it a couple of weeks before Christmas but didn't get to open the package until last Tuesday. I discovered that the bike was damaged and needed to be replaced. Amazon was great and did their best to send a replacement overnight in time for Christmas. Tracking the package online it looked like there was some kind of hold up at the Memphis facility and it did not leave there until 1 PM on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, the bike did not arrive in time, or so I thought. On Christmas morning, after all the gifts had been opened, I went outside and was shocked and pleasantly surprised to see the bike on the front doorstep. Wow! UPS delivered it on Christmas morning. There must be a Santa Claus.

Too bad there was still a problem with the bike, though. When I opened the box everything seemed to be in order but I could not get the front wheel to fit on the fork. I am not the world's most mechanically inclined but I have worked on my own bikes since I was 12 years old. No matter what I did I could not get the front wheel on. When I called Schwinn (actually Pacific Cycle)it seems like there is something wrong with the front fork and they will need to send a replacement.

IF I can get the bike together I'm sure it's going to be fine and worth the money I spent, but the packaging was not great, which is why the first shipment was damaged. It also seems there is little quality control with products shipped out. Sliding the front wheel on the fork should be a very simple procedure.

Many thanks to Amazon and UPS for doing a great job, but if I had to do this over again I would have spent the extra money and gone to a bike shop.

First of all, I would NEVER take the time to build a bike for $100.00! The right price AND it saved me time from getting into my car and driving to the store. Delivered to my home, no shipping charge. The bike was 90% put together. Final assembly was VERY easy! Great BRIGHT colors! Dad did GOOD! How do I know? The tears of joy that poured from my daughters eyes when she layed her eyes on it! How does it ride? Sorry, can't help you there. A bit small for me! :) But my 8 year old gives it a thumbs up!
