I ordered this bike after trying for about 3 weeks to get Amazon to ship me the Schwinn Discovery. I'm happy to say that it is a good bike, even though it wasn't what I originally wanted. It is a bit heavy, but not so much that it's difficult to get up and down the stairs of my apartment. It provides a smooth ride even over bumps. I'm used to riding mountain bikes so it took a bit of getting used to, but now I'm in love. Also the bike is a bit large, I'm just under 5'5 and it's very nearly too big for me(I have to drop the seat all the way down) so if you're a shorter woman this may not be your cycle of choice. I'm also a big fan of the fact that the rear rack matches the bike so it doesn't look like an after thought. It also makes the bike great for a commuter.I would have given a full five stars, but when I received and assembled my bike the wheels were not true and there were some issues with the gearing. I had to take it to my local sporting goods store to have it adjusted because those things were beyond my skill set. Now if I can find a good set of panniers or a basket to mount on the back rack I'm all set.

I bought this bike for my fiancee and we have been taking rides pretty much every day after work. Here's how I'd break down our experience:
Setup: Pretty easy as far as bikes go, although it will likely be tougher than you think if you've never put one together before. If this process intimidates you at all, it may make sense to bring it to a bike shop for setup.
Construction: I am not a bike expert, but once put together this bike seems solid. Shifting is easy and smooth and the brakes are responsive and easily adjustable. The only note is that this bike is a bit on the heavy side.
Ride: We typically go on rides between 5 and 15 miles, and this bike has done great so far. The shocks help to provide a smooth ride, and the bike handles well going up and down hills. No complaints here.
Overall: We're totally happy with this bike purchase, it's been great for our casual cycling. If you're looking for a bike for casual after-work rides, or maybe longer ones on the weekend - then you will probably not be disappointed with this one.

I bought this bike for my wife and she really loves it. Set up was easy. If you've ever assembled a bike you won't have any problem with this one. They did short me a nut for attaching the fender, I just got one at Home Depot no problem. She says it is a very smooth ride, shifts easy and brakes well. I even tried it out and it's great. Excellent bike if you ride for fun or have a short commute.

You're not buying this bike to win races or ride in the mud; you're buying it to cruise around in comfort. Be sure to make friends with somebody who's mechanically inclined too. It has a few tricky assembly steps, but you should come to expect that from a $200 bike. One other thing I didn't count for is how much of a pain women's bikes are to put on tail hitch bike racks, but that shouldn't discount the bike. The only down star is for the feel of some of the parts, which can be cheap. The fenders are POS, but who cares? This is a great bike for my wife, who really loves it. Oh, and she loves how fancy it looks when fully assembled, so get some extra browny points by not letting her see it until fully assembled. Don't complain about having to put it together, either. PS- Tires are mainly for street, but work fine in dirt roads, but too narrow for the beach sand.

I had never put a bike together before, but after googling several how-to videos online was able to put mine together in about an hour. It also helped that I had ordered the tools needed for assembly beforehand-- a hex key set, as well as bike lube -- since they're not included with the bike.
Also upon delivery, I was missing some pieces for assembly and had to call the manufacturer to get the necessary parts. It took about a week to receive them.
Once I had the bike assembled, however, I found that it was far too tall for me. Unfortunately, since it was already put together, I pretty much had no way to send it back, so hopefully this review will help others. The bike frame measures (from center of crank to top of the seat tube) at around 17". I am 5'4" and have about a 29-30" inseam. I wish Amazon had given the bike's size in the description.
Overall I was satisfied with the quality of the bike - it was sturdy and handled nicely, and if it had fit me, I would have kept it. It does have plastic fenders though, which look and feel cheap, but those are easily replaceable.

This is a good bike, it's well made and everything works great.
One thing to note, I thought the color of the bike was dark red/maroon but it's really more of a deep purple color. I don't know if that matters to you, but it's something that wasn't obvious to me when I bought it.
My wife is 5'1" and she does just fine on this bike.

I am not a bike aficionado! I wanted to start riding more and needed an update to my very old 3 speed! I read reviews and decided on this Schwinn. After reading reviews about putting it together, I decided to have it shipped to my local bike shop and pay them to do that,to make sure it was going to be in top shape. This worked out wonderfully for me.
While I haven't had the best weather yet to experiment, so far I can see I made a great choice and this bike is going to work perfectly for me. It shifts well, brakes are good, seat is comfortable. If you are looking for that casual bike to ride around, this one should certainly do a good job for you.

This is a gorgeous bike, and was very easy to put together (I did it myself).
The only problem is, it is huge. I am 5'3" and I usually like larger bikes, but this one is gigantic for me. I ended up selling it to my co-worker who was looking for a bike as well, and is 4 inches taller than me.
I wish the description had mentioned the measurements so I would have known for sure what I was buying.

The bike arrived as specified when the Amazon order was confirmed. The bike was shipped double boxed, not sure if FedEx supplied the second large box or if Amazon packed it; this helped to minimize any shipping damage. The bike arrived with no visible damage and to date everything seems fine with the bike. The bike was mostly assembled, but did require some assembly for items such as handle bars and front wheel that could not be mounted for shipment. Assembly requires some tools that a typical purchaser may not have and some mechanical ability is required, but my husband did not have any problems. Assembly took about thirty minutes and some time was required to make minor adjustments to the rear gear shifter and the caliper brakes. The bike is comfortable to ride for general commuting use and the seven speed gear shifter is more than adequate for use around the Houston area on flat terrain; I did not want a 21 or 23 speed mountain type bike or a racer with skinny tires. I am about 5' 3" tall and this bike is comfortable for me to use, minor adjustments were required to lower the seat. The seat adjustments could be made without tools which is nice. So far I am very pleased with this purchase.

This bike is great!! I use it to commute to school and, just around town, to walmart, etc. Im new to bike riding, but since I dont have a car, I needed a good quality bike. I was using a roadster for about a year and it was horrible. Just going down the street was horible, and UPHILL??? forget about it. THIS BIKE Rox!!! It handles so smoothly, and I can go up hill with minimal effort. Not good on sidewalks tho, its, def more of a road bike. Also, I get compliments on it all the time!! Ive had this bike for about 9 months and I use it everyday, (heavy wear and tear) and Ive had no problems with it.
