3.0 out of 5 stars Great looking bike. Decent componants for the price.
To start out, I got the bike on Christmas day. I set it up, (put together patially wrong) Took the kids ot for a ride and noticed that the chain kept popping when I peddled somewhat aggesively. Almost had a good crash due to this popping of the chain. Got almost home and noticed about 12 different teeth on the sprockets had broken off! 2 hours in! So far the rest seems...

I also bought a Burley bike trailer to tow around my 5 yr old daughter I've had no problems so far had it for a month now. I took it on a 5 mile dirt trail yesterday up and steep inclines, roots stickin out of ground and came back home no problem. I think the people that gave these reviews don't know how take care of things or deciede to ruin people opinions of certain items. Love it & recommend to all buyers around looking for a comfortable bike with options like this one

Almost had a good crash due to this popping of the chain. Got almost home and noticed about 12 different teeth on the sprockets had broken off! 2 hours in! So far the rest seems pretty nice though. I found out that they use old Shimano toolings from the 70s. It is made by a Chinese company (Very poorly) I am no bike mechanic, and im a big guy (225 lbs) May be a good call for a lighter rider.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great looking, poor overall quality, cheapy chinese made., December 15, 2010
This review is from: Schwinn Protocol 2.0 Men's Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike (26-Inch Wheels) (Sports)
I'll admit that this is a nice looking bike with some decent options, but it is no more than a Wal-Mart bike. When it came, the front rim was slightly bent and the front forks were on backwards, so I corrected the forks and got a new rim through warranty. One day I was riding up an incline and the rear sprocket busted, after just 3 weeks, then after warranty replaced it, it only took 3 days for the replacement to break.....while riding up an incline, on a paved sidewalk too; I am 5'8" and 140lbs, there is no excuse for this.

The warranty department has sent me another of the correct sprocket and a replacement rim, but the rim is off a different model. So they sent me the correct sprocket for that rim, saying it would work, but it doesn't, and they admitted this. So now i'm awaiting them to restock the original rim, won't be until February, and i'm back at square one, with the defunct original sprocket.

Nice looking bike, good options, but it's low quality, chinese made crap.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great looking Schwinn, can't beat the price!, October 23, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I simply bought this bike to get off the couch.
My son has an expensive mountain bike, but I didn't
want to pay as much as he did.
I've used Schwinn products in the past and felt comfortable.
Altho Schwinn is made in china its still a great looking bike.
I replaced the seat and am looking to change
the handle bars as well for my comfort.
I recomend this bike, I went for price per pound no tax and
free shipping and am well satisfied.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME - Schwinn Protocol 2.0, April 1, 2009

This bike is awesome. Pretty easy to assemble if you're somewhat of a hands-on person. Very comfortable, sleek design and very affordable discounted price through amazon dealers. I saved about $100.00 off retail.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice bike poor freewheel, January 9, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is nice bike, with a poor freewheel, after a week using this bike the freewheel lose a lot of teeth, and there are no other good, like shimano, freewheel 8 speed components, only for 7 speed in screw on. This bike is perfect if you take this part off.

1.0 out of 5 stars Broken teeth on 7th gear, May 19, 2011

Not a very well made Bike if in a year the teeth start breaking off the 7th gear.
Nothing much else to write about the bike, since it breaks easily.
