"Thank you for contacting us. The minimum height and age recommendation for the Schwinn Roadster is 3 yrs, 38" and up. I will be sure to have the boxes looked at to verify what they say."
Yes, apparently they've made a pretty big mistake on the box, but the fact that the minimum is 38" makes total sense. I hope this helps.
Second thing you need to know. The box states the bike fits children between 25" and 38" tall. My daughter is two years + 3 months old and is tall for her age at 36". I had to put the seat at it shortest setting and she just reaches the pedals enough to pedal all the way around. The box also states, "Ages 3 and up". I haven't seen many 25" tall kids that were even two years old so be forewarned if your child is under 35" tall the "trike" will be way to big.
Now to the bike itself. It's very sturdy but not too heavy if you have to carry it and your daughter a couple blocks back home. It has a molded handle on the back of the seat. The wooden deck on the back is pretty thin but is sturdy enough. The tires hold 35psi and seem very durable.
The seat adjustment is very easy with a knob and screw under the seat. The handlebars will adjust up and down a little bit if needed. Assembly was straightforward with easy to understand instructions. About all you need is an adjustable wrench.
It's really sharp looking. We get all kinds of questions and compliments. It really looks like a retro cruiser style street rod. We got the pink but there is enough chrome and black on it to really look cool (from a dad's point of view). Real black leather tassels even!
Bottom line, you get what you pay for. We bought this to replace the radio flyer piece of junk that would only tip over. This "trike" is so much better with a nice wide and stable wheelbase. Just don't overpay for it. Like I said, check around including Sam's and Walmart.
Our daughter is now 38.5 in tall and three years old. The trike seat was moved back to the middle position and fits her fine. We still have a little more room to adjust the seat, so I think she will get nearly two more years use out of the trike.

When Compared to the Radio Flyer:
- It has a lower center of gravity, so it is MUCH more difficult to tip over. This is most noticeable on sharp turns. The Radio Flyer has a strong tendency to topply over while the Schwinn has no issues.
- Since it is lower it can also be ridden without pedaling the pedals. The Schwinn Roadster can be ridden like a scooter.
- Can easily and confidently be ridden in grass. The Radio Flyer does seem to go as well in grass.... and of, it is more prone to tip over.
- When the neighborhood kids come over they tend to pull-out the Schwinn Roadster before the Radio Flyer.
While I can't comment for every child, but our daughter (as seen in the video) is about 27 months (and 36" tall) and she is still a little too small for both her Radio Flyer and the Schwinn. She still gets lots of use out of her Roadster as using it as a scooter (also in the video). She loves the bell and the pink frame.
Overall construction on the Schwinn Roadster seems to be very good. Little if any plastic is used, the tires are completely inflatable, the tubing is thick steel and has nice solid welds. I also noticed that the paint seems to be chip resistant... maybe a powder coat?
Final Verdict - Not much negative I can say about the Schwinn Roadster - this is a very easy recommendation.
