I just recieved my bike yesterday. the only problem was the shipper.FedEx was suppose to deliver it on Friday.I waited all day...for nothing! But I called FedEx and it was here the next day.I absolutly LOVE my bike! I got to ride it for the first time last evening. It was smooth, even on our suburban bumpy roads were we live.It is easy to shift, even though the gears are backwards from all the older bikes. Now my husband wants one,so I guess I will order another. I highly recommend this bike! It has a full lifetime warranty also.

Nice bike for the price, but needed adjustments at a bike shop,

So far my son and I both enjoy riding this bike, though we plan to put on a more comfortable seat soon. For the price, one certainly gets a lot of nice features.
One thing to consider carefully before buying a bike online is that if the bike needs adjustments, you'll either have to return the bike or pay for the adjustments at a local bike shop. This bike required that both brakes needed to be reinstalled, plus the rear wheel was not true. Fixing the front brake was easy, but the rear brake couldn't be fixed until the wheel was trued at the bike shop.

I have ridden bicycles for most of my life and have been riding the Schwinn for a couple months now. Right out of the box the bike needs to go straight to a bike shop for an adjustment that will cost at least fifty dollars. I can fix and adjust most things on a bike but after spending hours assembling and adjusting everything, I noticed that the wheels were so far out of true that the bike was unrideable. The bike does fairly well on the trail, the shocks handle the bumps well and the gears are smooth after the initial adjustment. My biggest complaint with the bike is its weight. Previously I bought a brand new Motiv bicycle for $250 and I could pick it up easily with one hand. The Schwinn feels like lead weight and only a weightlifter could lift it with one hand.

I bought this bike off craigslist for $125 in 2007. The frame is great. Strong and nimble but a bit heavy(dual suspension). I use this bike as my city commuter and average 10 mi a day. I want to upgrade most components.
Pros: Smooth ride Comfortable positioning Can be set up for higher performance No flats yet(2+yrs) Tough enough for all city terrain Looks good Cons: The warning sticker that states "Not intended for off-road use" Broken bottom bracket within a year(cheap fix) Chain ring gaurd broken w/no available replacement All in all this is a lot of bike for the money. I'll probably drop another $400 to make it right(including internally geared rear hub, slick tires(Conti City Tops), and single-gear 48 tooth front chain ring/crank set). Bike to work!

Good bike, know your needs and riding style,

This is a great bike for beginner trail enthusiasts. Note the wording. As for other reviews... Yes, it's heavy. It's a dual-suspension, what did you expect. Yes, some need adjusting (mine did not). Metal is ductile, hence the deformation.
I like to ride hard; rocks, roots, riverbeds, stumps. This bike has held up through a lot considering all the jarring and spills we've been through. Overall, I recommend it. If weight is an issue, get a single- or no-suspension bike. If you want a bike to last forever, keep it in your garage. I would buy this again without hesitation. |
