I normally take the negative reviews into consideration but always look at how many 5 star vs 1 star reviews there are to make a descion on a product, but this is truly a 1 star product!

1. It arrived broken, missing pieces and scratched as if it were a used bike. The seat had a crack in the vinyl and the front wheel was bent terribly. It was missing a bracket for one of the training wheels and that was because of the horrible packaging! It arrived with a gaping hole in the side and corner with half of the handle bar sticking out.

2. We managed to get the bike together and noticed that the handle bars would not tighten down all the way and if an adult pushed forward on them, they would fall forward a bit. We tightened them the absolute tightest we could and our daughter could not budge them, so we figured it was ok. Well, she just came in with torn pants and shirt sporting the first battle scars of summer because the bars completely fell forward to the wheel!

3. I am so shocked that Schwinn would offer such a piece of junk and we will never buy from Schwinn again. Now, to the benifit to the Schwinn name, I do understand that they were bought out in the last few years and the new company has consistantly produced a poor product, but this bike should be recalled! Hopefully I can get Amazon to take it back without the original box. If not, it is going to the dump, it's that bad!

Goodbye $90!

My in-laws ordered this bike for my daughter's 5th birthday after much research and all of us desiring not to spend $200+ on a first bike at a speciality bike shop.

The good news - this is a good bike she likes to ride. It's very attactive (her favorite part are the tassels on the handle bars, LOL) and decently built. She cruises around it at the park sometimes for an hour before growing bored.

Bad news
1. Worst thing was the shipping/packaging - it showed up with a lot of dents and rips in the box like it had been in a battle. The parts were packaged haphazardly and the various fasteners poorly separated and labeled. And, on top of that, the manual is a generic Schwinn manual that you have to leaf through to find the parts relevant to the bike you have bought. There are three different sets of instructions for three types of handlebars, for example, and you have to pay attention to detail to know that you are reading the instructions for the right type. It does make a difference in how you put it together.
2. It took some time to assemble and adjust as a result of #1, and had I not put together bikes before and maintained my own, I would have been a little befuddled at some of the instructions/guidance.
3. I would say that it is a little "heavy handed" and not the easiest to ride/maneuver. The brakes and pedals have a less than smooth operation that makes them tough for a girl who is just learning to ride. She has been on another bike or two and says her bike is harder to pedal. Not a big deal, as she still has plenty of growing to do on it, and I guess she gets a good workout :)

All in all, worth the purchase, but the assembly time and confusing instructions negated some of the cost savings vs. a more expensive bike.

Bike came with very bad packaging. The front while does not fit into the front fork. There are no assembly instructions and the product booklet is not specific to this bike. The accessories are very cheap. It is just a very heavy, bulky bike with very bad packaging.

The package arrived open and the small bag of screws that should have come with it were missing. It was supposed to be or my daughters birthday. We couldn't assemble it ontime so we had to buy her something else.

Never buy from this merchant.

I love cycling and usually do my own bike repair work on my bikes. I wanted to buy a inexpensive bike for my 5 year old so I went with the Schwinn hoping that some of the past quality would still be true to some degree today. Sorry to say that this bike was a disaster right out of the box. I chose to assemble it myself since I don't know whether the person who assembles for Target would do a good job and I thought it might be fun anyway.
I am disappointed with this bike for the following reasons (brand new sealed box from Schwinn):
1. The brake calipers were bent and there is no adjustment on the shoes to adjust toe-in. I had to take an adjustable wrench and bend the caliper to get it straight enough to brake adequately.
2. The wheels are both shockingly out of true so - much that the brakes rub. I expected some wobble but these were so out of true (approx 1/4") that you can't adjust the brakes open enough to still have braking.
3. The rear hub is noisy and clanks when you pedal. It sounds like the bearings have no grease.
4. This bike is heavy weighing 25lbs without the training wheels or bags and sreamers etc. I come to expect this however since I have yet to find a childrens bike that's light weight. It weighs more than my steel frame adult mountain bike. This bike weighs greater than 1/2 my daughters weight. Can you imagine as an adult if we had this same ratio. I weigh about 170lbs and so with the schwinn ratio my bike would weigh over 85lbs!

To Schwinns credit: Aesthetically Schwinn did well to attract young riders with the metallic paint job and streamers and bag and anodizing. Who really cares how it looks though if functionally it is less than enjoyable to ride.

Is zero stars possible? Bike arrived and the font fork was bent so badly that it couldn't be assembled. I started assembling it the night before my daughters birthday party, so I had to rush it to a bike shop first thing in the morning. It cost $30 to have it repaired before guests arrived at the party.

I bought this bike for my 4 year old daughter. She loves the bike. It was easy to assemble. It took about 15 minutes. The bike has both a hand brake on the handle bars and a pedal brake, however, my daughter's can't reach the hand brake. Since it can't be adjusted, she can only use the pedal brake. Overall, the bikes seems to be of good quality and I am happy with my purchase.

The bike arrived in a box that was really beat up. The box was partially ripped in some spots and on one side a portion of the bike was sticking through the box. Once I took the bike out and started to assemble it I realized that the bike was damaged. One of the lug nuts that held the front wheel in place was partially crushed. Obviously, this bike fell from a height onto concrete or something very heavy fell on it to do that kind of damage. I sent the bike back and then had to wait 3 weeks for a replacement. The replacement came and the box was not in much better shape. I examined the new bike closely and found no real damage, but there were some scratches in the paint, most visibly on the handlebars. So, bike was also handled improperly in the shipping and handling process. I decided to keep the bike in spite of the scratches because I had wasted enough time getting to this point and hadn't found a nice bike at a local retailer for the same price.

I have had nothing but good experiences dealing with Amazon over the years. Customer service was helpful and responsive in this case. However, after reading some of the other reviews, I saw that many other people have had problems with the packaging and shipping of this bike. I would recommend the bike, but beware of the shipping and condition of the bike when you get it. Be prepared to send it back for another one becasue there is a good chance it will arrive damaged.

We were so excited about receiving the Schwinn Jasmine bike. Alas the box was completely smashed up - the refectors on the bike were broken - it looked very USED and we did not buy a used one!!! Very disappointed!

I ordered this bike for my granddaughter for xmas......received it w/in a week. Came boxed properly and dad was great assembling it. Instructions were easy to read. No left over screws.... well built product. Sturdy. I would recommend for any young child. My granddaughter is 6 yrs. old and she is so happy with her Schwinn. The seat is adjustable for taller children and training wheels are removeable.

It is very good bike very sturdy .But I feel Manual should be more specific to this bike and not very clear about how to assemble the front wheel I spent 1 day to figure it out.All you need to do is expand the fork slightly( it is hard to do) and push the front wheel in .I am very much happy with the product.
