Bought this as my first road bike. Much lighter than my mountain bike. I am 5'8" with a 30in inseam and the bike is maybe an inch too tall but very workable. Instructions make assembly very easy. I paid $30 to have the brakes and retailers adjusted. I recommend this because it makes shifting absolutely smooth. I've only ridden twice and put 25 miles on to the bike but I will be putting on lots more. Highly recommend this bike to anyone looking to use it for exercise or as a commuter.

First off, I am a novice rider, I haven't owned a bike since I was a teen ager about 19 years ago. So, being an inexperienced rider, I WOULD highly recommend this bike for anyone. I did two weeks worth of research on all available bikes and their prices and reviews, and I settled on this one. I am extremely pleased with this purchase!

This bike is light weight (not the lightest), but I'm pleased with it. It's fast, with my size (5'8" 172lbs), I comfortably glide between 14-17mph and have gotten to 24.5mph (with a little downhill help), its very capable oh handling speed. Speaking of size, I have the seat all the way down, and I feel that I am at perfect pedal height, meaning... If you're shorter than me, this bike is too big for you...

Now, I know that all saddles are different, and every one of our "seats" are as we'll, so no knock on the seat that comes with it, but after riding it for the second time, at around mile 4-5 I felt discomfort in that place u don't wanna feel discomfort, so I am currently looking into replacing the saddle.

Putting this bike together was fairly simple... Just throw on the front wheel, handle bars, secure the shifters, front n rear reflectors, seat, breaks, and pedals and you're done... Only tools u need (dunno size of wrench needed), but I used an adjustable wrench, Phillips screwdriver, and Allen wrench...

Overall easy to assemble. However those without tools should go to a bike shop to have the derailleur adjusted/ pedals installed and brakes tightened. MOST IMPORTANTLY buy some rim tape. I know the alloy wheels come with plastic protection to prevent spokes from damaging the inner tube. Trust me the protection will break. use the rim tape and you will practically not have to change your inner tubes for a long time. Also inflate the tires to 100 psi. This will save your life if your going 23 mph and making turns over debris littered road. Also replace the seat. It will start to make noise after 50 miles. This bike can also serve you as a commuter bike but i should advise that if your going to commute with this please please put the rim tape on the wheels and for added puncture protection buy some continental gatorskins. Aside from that this bike is a good bargain. The bike weighs in at about 26 lbs. If tuned correctly you will pretty much zoom by everyone else. However you must be fit to be completely true. Final word of advise If this bike breaks 300 350 your better of going to a bike shop and bargaining with them for a bike in the 400 dollar range. The $400 bike shop bike will have all the components that you may want to add to this one if you ever decide to upgrade.

This is my first road bike, and I am amazed at the quality at such an affordable price. The assembly was easy and quick. I took the bike out for a 10 mile ride, and everything worked great right off the bat. It is light weight and fast. This bike is an overall great bike for beginners or anyone else. I am 5' 7", and it fits me perfect with the seat almost all the way down. If you are around 5' 7" or any taller this bike will fit you. The quality is outstanding, and it is affordable, I would recommend this bike to anyone.

This is my first Road Bike and love it since I can ride it even on a windy day where I could have stop on a Mountain Bike. I ride strictly for workout…about 20 miles a day and the reason for the 4 stars is the pedal reflector fasteners came off during my first 20 miles on the bike. The bike is very light, weighed in at 26 lbs using a luggage scale. Hopefully this bike will last longer than my two Wal-Mart special Mountain Bikes which lasted about 1,000 miles each.

Overall I am happy with my purchase. I bought this bike as a means for riding to and from work, and also to train for an upcomming triathlon with. For the price of the bike you can't expect too much. There are some issues that will probably require some money to fix. The derailleur is the biggest issue. When the bike is in low gear, and you shift into a high gear, the derailleur doesn't want to cooperate and you risk the chain popping right off. I have had a master bike mechanic look at the piece and she suggested that it is just cheap and would require about $50 + labor to fix/upgrade the piece. This is disappointing that I have to put more money into the bike, but like I said, this is something you should expect for the price of the bike.

Overall I am giving 3 stars because it rides smooth (in low gears) and should get the job done.

I got this as a commuter replacement for my old mountain bike (stolen). It certainly feels a lot quicker, FWIW - noticeably lighter anyways. It seems like a good entry-level road bike. It looks pretty slick, although the white on the brake levers looks a bit tacky IMO. Some of the components seem decent, a couple I am worried about long-term, such as the crank and front derailleur - they look kind of cheap, and it was tricky to get the derailleur to switch properly from low to high. Basic assembly is easy - attach and tighten. As with any bike, adjusting the brakes and derailleurs require a little more patience but are not that hard if you are a little mechanically inclined.

As others have said, this is not an 18-inch frame - it's a 22" (maybe technically 55cm) road bike frame. Amazon should really change the description. It seems just right for me at 5'10".

UPDATE: others are definitely right about the rim tape issue - my rims have a rubbery strip covering the spoke end holes, but it's real flimsy and and already has holes in 2 places - will be putting on proper rim tape shortly.
