I purchased these wide ride pedals to get the push - pull effect so that the muscles in my legs got a better overall workout. They work great for that. It can be a little difficult to get the right fit initially due to stiffness of material, but it softens up with time.

I bought these to replace the pedals on my stationary bike. The are really nice. The platform is roomy and the straps adjust to fit my size 13 feet without coming loose. They are a good buy if you are happy with your bike but need some replacement pedals.

One Problem,

If you only use your Airdyne with arms and legs, these are great pedals. You will get a good workout pushing and pulling. If you want a workout with just arms, there is a problem. They do not have enough ballast built into the bottoms, and can spin around without feet in them. That ballast is supposed to keep the pedal upright, but the strap hits the floor, causing the bike to jerk and move. I put a piece of two by four under the back feet to raise the bike enough to fix the problem. I wouldn't have to do that if they had put in more weight.

Before purchasing these pedals, my feet would slip off the pedals when I started getting up some speed. Now I can continue my workout without constantly starting and stopping.

Much Better Than Originals...,

I bought a used Schwinn Airdyne Exercise bike and it came with the regular, bicycle type, pedals. My foot would slip off or I would have to constantly adjust my foot position while I was working out. These new pedals hold my shoes in place and I'm able to ride without slippage... They really make a difference... I love them!

First, these went on my Stamina 15-0200 InTone Folding Recumbent Bike (which suddenly got more expensive - should be closwer to $140 as it was when I bought it) and fit okay (I thought they were too small at first, but then I tried re-installing the original pedals and they fit exactly the same). The original pedals were horrible in most any way that mattered: (1) too small (in the toe-to-heel direction) (2) too narrow (for the width of my foot) (3) no strap over the foot (4) light grinding feeling when spun (but hardly noticeable while riding) The Schwinn's are excellent in comparison: (1) Quite wide (plenty wide for my 4E width feet) (2) highly adjustable - the strap can attach at two different widths in addition to having many different length adjustments on each side (3) smooth spin (not perfect, but clearly functional) (4) nice groove in the middle for barefoot pedaling (probably makes no difference with shoes on though). The only downside is that while barefoot, the angle of the back of the pedal makes it easy to force your toes out (away from the bike) and your heels in (toward the bike). This probably isn't great for your knees over time, but there are also advantages to having this angle so not a serious complaint. Something to consider - especially with the Stamina 15-0200: The pedals are "tall" in that they reach close to the floor as you pedal past 6:00 - I had to bend the long side of the strap into the bottom of the pedal to prevent it from rubbing the carpet during each rotation. Overall though, not a problem since you can easily adjust them. I say get them! Anything that keeps you on the bike!

These pedals should be included with Schwinn's original equipment. Even if you don't use them for increased pedaling force they are very helpful to keep your feet in place on long rides. They are comfortable, effective and seem well made.

Arrived earlier than expected. Everything is fine--a good product that works well (or should I say helps me work well).
