4.0 out of 5 stars love it
I teach kids with autism, and this toy is a very systematic toy. I can use it to teach them to request, say go, and use it as a reinforcer. The ball on the top of the elephants nose did turn while the elephant goes in circles. The only thing is that the toy seems very fragile, I would not let my students play with it unattended! But other than that--i love it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't wind up, otherwise good.
I bought this toy as a gift, and it would be amazing except that the one I received does not wind up at all. Still, it's a funny gift.
Note that it's bigger than you might think, it's almost 1 foot high with the ball.

I gave this a 4, but it is a wonderful wind up, and worth the price. Main reason is that it goes clear across the room, and our grandchild loves to catch it. Be advised not to leave unattended; this toy is for adult supervision for little ones.
It doesn't do much else, but what it does, it does excellently; most windups don't last a quarter of the time.

I bought this toy as a prop for my one year old's circus themed birthday party. It is fragile as others have stated, so I wouldn't let any little ones actually play with it. Mine works wonderfully. When you wind the crank, the elephant takes off and the colorful ball spins around. I was surprised at how long one crank lasted. A very well made toy. My son absolutely loves to watch it zoom across the floor and I wish it weren't so fragile that I could give it to him to enjoy. I may have to just hide it away until he gets older.

This is one of 2 collectible tin toys I ordered for my daughter's recent birthday party. My elephant works perfectly - you just easily attach the ball to the trunk, wind it up and it rolls forward while twirling the ball on its trunk. It's absolutely adorable, but like I mentioned on my review of the tin ride collectible, it looks somewhat delicate and I would not suggest allowing little children to play with it (if you want it to last). I bought it as a decorative piece and love it for that purpose, it also entertains my 1 year old daughter when I wind it up and she watches it roll! Great little collector's piece for the price.

Just received this elephant which was so beautifully packaged (and quick to arrive). The toy itself is charming, not durable enough for our 3 year old to handle unattended but I am certain she will be as taken with it as I am. Simply charming old-fashioned fun. Has definitely put the spirit of Christmas in my heart.

I was under the impression the ball on the top of the elephant would turn. It does not. I think it would be a much cooler toy if that part moved. No directions come with the toy. NO way of knowing if the ball was supposed to move or not. Bummed out. It is just a paper weight now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Funny looking thing, May 19, 2008

When I first got it I kind of didn't like because of the front wheel fork being so thin that can be twisted and even broken easily. It didn't seem funny at first and I was almost ready to sell it when I showed it to my 10 months old son and he loved it. He enjoyed so much that I decided to keep it for him when he is older.

I saw a very simular toy in a picture of my grandfather's toys. They say "Everything old is new again." I would love to have this in my elephant collection.
