This item arrived on time, intact and works well, sturdy enough. We treated it gently as a scope should be. Many different colorful images. I ask people to try and repeat the same colorful image twice and they cannot. The images are like snowflakes. The images can be used as a tool for meditation, similar to Mandala. I use Kaleidoscopes to encourage relaxation in people who normally need drugs or alcohol to relax and feel safe. It takes conversations away from feelings of hopelessness back to problem solving and hope, back to discussions of how peaceful life still can be if we allow it, how joyful it still can be right now, how relaxed and adventurous. Some people like to add head phones and favorite music. Even nervous people sit in nature and feel calm and clear thinking again. I can see their breathing and body relax. The mental break, the mental reset they needed. They're finally giving themselves personal one on one self time. Afterwards people say they feel like their batteries are charged again, ready to take on problems of the world again (all without drugs or alcohol). Kaleidoscopes are like Harry Potter's different wands, due to the different color/pattern differences, each Kaleidoscope takes you on a different adventure, if you allow it. Where will you allow your imagination take you? It can be your personal spontaneous Mandala offering you your own inner personal guidance and advice for the day. Friends have given me expensive Kaleidoscopes and I'm grateful but the expensive ones are just different but not any better. Let the adventure begin, enjoy.

The toy really looks nice.
Seems to work fine as well.
However, I was a little bit disappointed looking into it.
Either my remembrance of my childhood (20 years ago) is blurred or the making of this Kaleidoscope is not top of its breed.
I recall overwhelming colorful images changing surprisingly with every turn.
With this make you can easily identify the individual beads.
Still it does change nicely. Might be still the best on the market.

I purchased this for inspiration in designing kaleidoscope artwork. The geometric shapes in the design are easy to examine, and the colors are nice and bright without being too common and cloying. It looks like jewels. Lots of good, clean fun.

I was really, really pleased with this kaleidoscope. The two main reasons I bought it were a review that said the particles were like jewels, and the fact that it has a metal tube. I've tried before to find a good one, but they were all cardboard with dull metal foil refectors and blah opaque plastic particles. This is exactly like the 'real' ones I had as a child 50 years ago. I like to see the light coming through the transparent colored pieces,it makes for much richer visuals. This one uses colorful beads, and the originals used shards of colorful glass, but the results are the same as the originals. Maybe even better, since these shapes are more defined and varied.

I got this for my daughter, age three. It has a metal casing, which is nice, though it is extremely thin and would deform, if not crush, if stepped on even by my child. Still, it seems durable enough if used with care. The colorful beads and bits that create the show at the end of the tube are made of plastic, which is fine. It is colorful on the outside, but clearly cheaply made; still, it works well enough and the price is reasonable. My daughter likes it fine, though more so when it is an activity to do with daddy (perfectly fine by me :) than to pick up and play with herself. For me, it is a relaxing and thoughtful thing to do while swinging lazily in a hammock on a sunny afternoon - hold it up to the light, look through it, turn the end to tumble the colored bits, and behold the wonderful parade of colorful snowflakes. It has no batteries, which I love.

I have to say, it's a challenge to spark my daughter's interest in this with so much competing electronica about, but I believe there is something charming and essential in introducing your small one to a world of wonderment actuated, rather than through keystrokes or computer screen, but the interplay of prism, light, and colored bits, and the fact that you never, ever, see the same picture twice. Four stars for a charming and educational toy that is at once nostalgic and timeless.

I wanted to find an unusual item for Christmas for my 5-year-old granddaughter. This kaleidoscope filled the bill. She was delighted with it--don't think she had ever seen one. Recommend it for children of all ages.

This could have been a very enjoyable product....it is made of tin and would seem to hold up well in "little" hands. However one of the prisms inside seems to be broken so you don't get the "true" kalidascope experience. As a Christmas gift we were unhappy with it as a gift for one of our grandchilden...hard to explain to a youngster how it "should look" when you use it.
