The piano itself has a "tinny" sound, though much of what I expected in an electric piano.

It is tiny...perfect for small hands.

wanted a small keyboard for my little daughter's 2nd birthday present.

went around stores and found good deals, some really cheap ones too, but most of them were either too sophisticated for her rather young age, or their small to medium size keys were still too big for her tiny fingers.

since i've been playing keyboards since ancient times myself, i wanted something really 'fit' for her little finger size as well as very simple, "as plain as a piano" so to say: no rhythms or preset sounds or dandy candy stuff, not even saved songs; just a plain musical instrument with one tempered sound, again, pretty much similar to a piano ...

and i also wanted it to be *polyphonic* too!

i searched around the Internet for quite a while to find my desired item. and i found this one, which looked fine for my child. there was no mention of it being polyphonic though: neither in the seller's ad nor on people's reviews but i just went for it no matter what as it was getting late for her birthday already! the price was also quite affordable for me although the shipment cost me somewhat extra but i didn't want to drive around spending on gas and mileage either ...

and guess what: the instrument turned out to be both the right thing in terms of size and simplicity of sound and operation (it's always on, just like a real piano is!) and above all, it is also a polyphonic instrument!

yoopi! now, my daughter can experience using more than one finger at the same time and hear more than one note sound at the same time too, which i consider very important educationally.

The keyboard is actually very small. I bought it for my 4 year old son, but even with his small fingers, it is kind of small for him. My 2 year old likes playing with it though. The batteries last a long time in it which is good because there is no off button, so it is always on. There is no volume control either, but it isn't too loud so that's not too much of a problem.

Great little keyboard to learn and play on. My 15 month old loves playing with it and so do I! It is a little loud, but not too bad compared to some of the other toys we have in the house. Overall, just what I wanted at a great price!

HOW can a toy piano, less than 11 inches long, and with only 23 notes, be a serious tool for a budding composer? Well, I bought this tiny piano keyboard because it IS small. With it, there is room on my cramped desk for both a composition book and this keyboard, and I don't have to use my regular piano, (and constantly look up, as I add my notes, one by one to my compositions). I've read that classic(al) ccmposers, (like Handel), were able to go off into the woods, with only a staff-paper notebook and a pen, and, (obviously having true perfect pitch), write their compositions from only these. Not, sadly, me. I NEED a keyboard of SOME kind to write down the right notes! Gotta HEAR them before I write them!

But now I have read, (in another reviewer's review), that this tiny "toy" keyboard is POLYPHONIC! That is, you can play more than one note at a time on it! This other reviewer said one can play FIVE notes at a time on it! Gosh -- except for my regular, old-fashioned piano, I've never been able to do THAT on a keyboard before! (I havr several "toy" keyboards -- all far bigger, and unweildly, (albeit with more notes), than this one, and one "pro" keyboard, which I have not yet been able to use. Maybe it will allow me to play five notes at a time...I can't tell yet.) But a small, polyphonic "toy" keyboard will be INVALUABLE to me, if I want to figure out 11th, 12th, and 13th(????) chords for my musical compositions! And, as I have said, it is SO small, it even allows for my music composition book to stay on the table with it!)

"Toy" piano keyboards are, for children, toys indeed. But a "toy" keyboard need not be JUST a toy! For me, it's a serious music composing tool! Yes, there is no-on-and off switch, but that matters little to me. Just keep a screwdriver handy, to take out the batteries when the keyboard will not be used a lot. But I'm beginning to realize that those periods will, for me, probably be
few and far between! : )

After reading other reviews, I knew for sure this was going to be a small keyboard... but, c'mon people, the title is "MINI electric piano." MINI. And it is. Like the length of my little laptop I'm typing on now. BUT my son and I have no problem pressing the keys. I am able to play entire kid songs for him... Twinkle Little Star, Rockabye Baby, Baby Mine, Old MacDonald, etc... songs I always sing to him. He loves it!

PROS: I bought this keyboard after looking at a lot of pictures and reading a lot of other reviews, because it seemed to have a good and accurate range for a toddler, and it certainly does. The keyboard goes from a "G," up 2 octaves to the "F," so it has a full range C to C scale in the middle which allows a lot of variety in the songs we play, as opposed to other keyboards and xylophones we've tried. Also, on EVERY OTHER xylophone/kiddy keyboard I have, notes are badly out of tune. This is PERFECTLY IN TUNE. I love it! Another great thing is that the black keys are real keys and actually play... in another piano he got as a gift, they were stationary pieces of plastic.

CON: Let's face it, it's plastic and mechanic and it won't stand up to a lot of abuse. Luckily, I wasn't too concerned about that because this is such an affordable little piano. It stood up to the first few days of my sons beatings (he's a bit rough with toys), but after around a week and a half, it did end up dying. Tried replacing batteries, but it's just broken. Oh well. Fun while it lasted.

If your child is not overly abusive to his/her toys, then this will be a GREAT buy for you. However, if, like my son, your child likes to stand on EVERYthing and is rough with things, I'd hold off and purchase this when he/she is a bit more mature and careful with things! My own fault, not really the fault of the piano. It's a cute toy with great musical range, and I'll buy it again in another year or so, when I think he's ready.
