If you're interested in seeing how your kid will take care of these timeless pets definately go with this kit. It is the bare bones basic, compllete with water purifier, eggs, food and spoon, no more, no less. if your kid responds well to this one, then you'll want to upgrade to the more nifty kits.

one word of caution, if your kid has his/her heart set on a red tank, don't hold your breath. I ordered from this listing for the red tank and got a blue one instead. i'm grateful that my son was able to be more flexible when it showed up, after all it was the monkeys that he wanted more than anything.

This was a great buy,the shipping was fast and the sea monkeys grow! you have to be careful where you put them,because they may get knocked over!mine didn't, but in my 4th grade class they did,so put them in a good are.

it's great and all but there are two flaws that are VERY important:

1. this kit only has the basics, there are others which come with teeny little transportation tanks (sea-bubble pendant, wrist aquarium, etc..) with the same tank model and things (plus they come in kool colors; mine's pink!) this doesn't COME with any teeny transport tanks.

2. this (like every sea monkey tank that looks like this) is QUITE ill-balanced. be careful!

I bought this product and i waited for them to hatch but it never worked. i eventualy had to throw it away.if you are willing to waste your money and try these out then go for it. overall it is a waist of time and money. but if you are looking for a first time pet i recomend a fluffing even though it is electronic it is very fun.

This makes a great first time pet for little kids! Preparing the water and waiting for the eggs to hatch are a test of patience for very young children but feeding, aerating the water, and making sure not to knock the tank over are all very important lessons in responsibility. Good way to test if kids are ready for more responsibility. This kit is a good choice since it's the classic tank and kit without all the fancy accessories some of the other ones have.

The "sea monkeys" hatched and grew as promised. However, in a single day while we were away at school and work, the water turned and all of the "sea monkeys" were dead. Obviously, my seven year old was disappointed, but it was an experience none the less. I simply wouldn't buy it a second time. Once is enough.

This product contains the classic Sea Monkey tank that is perfect for raising a Sea Monkey colony. Sometimes it's fun just to stare at them as they swim around...
