Nice drum, with one 'flaw',

This is a great sized drum and the drum sticks are a nice size for small hands. It seems sturdy and is not too heavy for a child to wear using the strap. My one 'big' complaint about this drum is that there are three plastic balls within the drum that roll around and clank on the sides of the drum and we find them distracting. When my daughter is trying to keep rythem with music, the balls are just doing their own thing and there is no way to silence them. Drum would have been perfect for us without the balls! I've tried to figure out how to take the drum apart to remove them but I'm pretty certain I will end up ruining the drum instead.

My daughter LOVES music, especially drums. She will make a drum out of anything, and is mesmerized whenever they show drummers on Sesame Street. I got her this drum for Christmas and it was a BIG hit. The size is perfect for her age and size. She figured out how to get it around her neck and would walk all over the place with it on, drumming with the included drumsticks, a spoon from her play kitchen, even her hands. The colors are bright and cheery, the top and bottom of the drum are clear so you can see three primary-colored balls that roll around inside. The sound is like a real drum - no muted, tinny, or lame sound here. If you buy this, don't expect to have a quiet home!
The only thing I found wrong with this drum was its durability. My daughter was wearing the drum around her neck and walked into the corner of our coffee table. The corner of the table dented the top of the drum which caused it to cave in, the blue band holding the top to slip off, and the drum pretty much was destroyed. I tried to put it together but it just wouldn't fit. However this drum is so cute, and so loved, we bought our daughter a new one. This weekend the drum survived her birthday - five kids under five years of age fighting over the drum, wearing it, dropping it, sliding it across the floor. It held up, looks great, sounds great, and really inspires creativity in kids. I think it's important to get your child passionate about music at an early age, and that comes from REAL instruments, not fake plastic ones with batteries. This classic drum is near-perfect!

I have to say that with the price, I was expecting item to brake easilly specially in hands of my three year old son however, he loved it as I did too. Item is very durable, and he can make all the noice he wants with it. Shipping was fast, well packed and very easy to open also.

I bought this drum for my twin 3 year old boys. I read several reviews that said it was durable. The drum didn't even last a whole day. The top is a thin layer of plastic that busted with in a couple of hours - the metal drum fell apart, it is VERY thin & flimsy - it didn't hold up at all. Total waste of money.

For the price, this was not a very durable drum. When it arrived, it was unusable. The top band was not set right, so the plastic piece that the kids beat on, was not secure. It could not be fixed. As a whole, it was a pretty flimsy product. It looks better in the picture.

I bought this for my 2 year old. He loved it, but that was short-lived because he destroyed it almost immediately. Very cheaply made product. The clear plastic came unglued from the tin, the drumsticks are really small, and the tin dents easily. Would not recommend this drum unless your child is VERY gentle with toys.

I bought these two adorable drums for my three year old grand-daughters. The drums are cute but fell apart after two weeks of normal play.

I purchased a Schilling drum for one of my grandchildren because he had expressed an interest in marching & banging. Many more expensive toys were received Christmas Eve, but all of my grandchildren had to take turns playing the drum!! Needless to say, I purchased 2 more drums asap. I don't think you can call a drum an educational toy, but they sure did enjoy it. Two of the three drums are still going strong...the first one was damaged beyond repair, but it wasn't the drum's fault.
I purchased this particular drum with the stars on the outside for my granddaughter, the boys received Thomas The Train drums. Unbeknownst to me, her drum had 3 balls inside which you can see. The boys thought they got the short end of the stick... The damaged drum has been replaced with a shiny new one.

I got this drum for my sons first birthday because he loves to bang on daddy's real one so much, I thought he might enjoy his own.I was right, he does! He loves it! My 2 yr old daughter does too! The problem I have is that it's so cheaply made that when my daughter dropped it(from one step up)it put a dent in the side of it and I can't get it to bend back. Every time I try a diiferent spot starts to bend. Considering the cost I'm not to upset. Afterall, you get what you pay for. I think it'll last until he moves on to the next phase. I'd have to find something to do with it then anyway.
