This is of poor quality. It is made of cardboard, is just an inner box with nothing to do but dump jewelry into, and the horse in the one I received did not turn properly on a visible spring. It plays 'Home on the Range'. What a disappointment. I am returning!

When I was going to order this music box, some of the reviews were discouraging, but I ignored them and bought it anyway. I was pleasantly surprised! I expected a cheap, small toy, but it's actually really nice! It's big enough to fit a large digital camera inside, which is perfect for children's costume jewelry. I loved that the inside was purple velvet, it looked right. The small mirror was a nice touch, too. The song is really cute, "Home On The Range", but it just plays the verse and not the chorus, but I don't mind. It's actually pretty loud, but it sounds good. Arrived in a cute package, too. I am really glad I bought this (even though I bought it to put my 6 month old son to sleep! lol). I think I might buy another for my 12 year old sister-in-law. She loves horses, and she loves jewelry, so it's perfect. The only complaint I have with this item is that the horse that spins when you open it was glued to the spring...with a LOT of glue, which is visible. But it's just a minor detail. I would recommend for a girl (or to put a baby to sleep!) Also, one review I read said it was made of "cardboard"? It is definitely not, just thought I'd mention that. I don't think an adult would like this jewelry box because it doesn't have any drawers or anywhere to hang necklaces so they don't get tangled, but it is great for a kid. Thanks amazon!

I had this shipped to my 6 year old niece, a horse nut, for her birthday. She called me to tell me that it was her "awesomest present", and that it was going with her to show and tell the next day! My sister said that once she got the horse box, all her other presents were ignored. A great gift for girls who love horses.

My 8 year old niece loved it, and proclaimed she would take care of it so her own kids could have it some day. She's a horse nut, and a girly-girl, so it was perfect for her.

Looked high and low for a first time jewelry box for a younger brother. His sister received one with a little ballerina so he was excited to get one with a little horse.

its not metal, but its ok. I bought it for my 5 year old . She loves it. its going to sit on a shelf anyway. I would buy another one.

Not impressed with this item at all. Bought it for my 5 yr old niece and now have to find something else, it looks very cheap made and seems like something i could have got at a dollar store. Nothing like the picture made it seem it would be.

This is a lovely jewelery box, but you don't really get the concept of size until its in your hands and you realize, "Hm....it only holds a a couple necklaces, only tiny bracelets and the best use is for rings." It is extremely tiny. More for desk decoration than actual use.

this would have been a good present for my sister who just turned 9 but when she opened it the horse was missing its leg and was not in the box to be fixed with she still liked it but how disappointed was i when i found out about this lots, i live far away and now i have to figure out how to get this fixed, how many little girls would be happy with a three legged horse and why did they ship it like that?

I bought this jewelry box for a little girl and she really likes the horse and the music. However, the first time she opened the box the clasp fell off. Her dad finally got it put back on.

She also liked the pictures of the horses.
