5.0 out of 5 stars Illustrates the role that forces and motion play in creating theme park rides, February 15, 2009
This review is from: The Science of Disney Imagineering: Trajectory Classroom Edition [Interactive DVD] (Interactive DVD)
Disney is one of the world's most trusted names when it comes to children's entertainment. What is less well known is the Disney commitment to high quality, kid friendly educational materials. "The Science of Disney Imagineering" is an impressive series of instructional DVDs specifically created for young viewers in grades 5 through 8 with a 30 minute running time. The three DVD productions focus upon a single science concept. "The Science of Disney Imagineering: Gravity" investigates the science and nature of the force behind such thrill rides as roller coasters and other major Disney theme park attractions. "The Science of Disney Imagineering: Levers & Pulleys" focuses on the mechanics of how Disney theme park elements such as Dumbo the Flying Elephant and other remarkable machines work. "The Science of Disney Imagineering: Trajectory" illustrates the role that forces and motion play in creating theme park rides such as the California Adventure's California Scramin' and Toy Story Midway Mania. Each of these superbly produced, informed and informative DVDs are enhanced with 'try it yourself' experiments that children can do to reinforce learning the key principles and concepts presented. All three of the "The Science of Disney Imagineering" titles are enthusiastically recommended for school and community library DVD collections, as well as an ideal supplement for home schooling science studies curricula.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good, September 2, 2011
This review is from: The Science of Disney Imagineering: Trajectory Classroom Edition [Interactive DVD] (Interactive DVD)
My 9 year liked this DVD so much he wanted to see others in the series but he didn't ask to see the same one over and over again. I reserve purchasing DVD's to programs the kids want to watch more than once which is why I give it 4 stars instead of 5. If they came in a reasonably priced complete set I might buy them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting Science!, October 2, 2009
This review is from: The Science of Disney Imagineering: Trajectory Classroom Edition [Interactive DVD] (Interactive DVD)
I love this series, and more importantly, my kids love this series. This is absolutely the best DVD series for teaching science. Exactly the right amount of repetition of the key concepts in so many fun and clever forms. The host is excellent - not a stuffy lab coat scientist but a hip, fun Imagineer who might just have the coolest job in the world. A+!

5.0 out of 5 stars Real Educational Value!, September 15, 2009

It's nice to see Disney creating materials that can work for learners of all ages-- my students can enjoy it, and I can enjoy watching it with them. I think adults might even find themselves re-learning some scientific principles they may have left behind with time.

This is a another great behind the scenes science show. I watched it with my teenage son and we both loved it. Real science, entertaining and a look inside the parks. Good stuff.

This review is from: The Science of Disney Imagineering: Trajectory Classroom Edition [Interactive DVD] (Interactive DVD)
When I went to the National Science Teacher's Association conference this year, I got to meet the host of this series--he's a real Disney Imagineer! I've since seen all the DVDs in this series and I just love it. Great for middle school physical science.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Educational DVD Series, August 28, 2009
This review is from: The Science of Disney Imagineering: Trajectory Classroom Edition [Interactive DVD] (Interactive DVD)
It's no surprise the DVDs in this series won an award (see logo on package!). They'd win my "Gold Award" too - and I've encouraged all of the teachers I know to take a closer look. The Science of Disney Imagineering makes science exciting and relevant for students, geared towards grades 5 and up.
