The real deal on EI,
By Thomas Joseph "Born in the Bronx" (Princeton, NJ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Science of Emotional Intelligence: Knowns and Unknowns (Series in Affective Science) (Hardcover)
The real deal is that emotional intelligence is much more complicated than books like Dan Goleman's state. This volume gives the state of the art. Various authors poke and pull at what is really known through various studies. The takeaway considering the construct known as 'emotional intelligence' is the lack clarity as to both what can be measured and how you might conduct such measurement. However, those who are deeply interested in the subject will find this an entertaining but scholarly tour through all of the dimensions. The last chapter sums up where we are and defines new directions for research that will make a difference in the field.
