A great introduction to classic science fiction., September 19, 2009
This review is from: Science, Fact and Fiction (Paperback)
I had this book for a High School class in science fiction literature back in the late eighties. I enjoyed the book so much I kept it when the class was over (whoever keeps their high school textbooks afterall). It is a great book with stories from several of the great science fiction writers of the past century. Since Amazon doesn't have many specifics on this book, here they are: Editors: Edmund J. Farrell, Thomas E. Gage, John Pfordresher, and Raymond J. Ronrigues. The introduction "Science Fiction: Before Christ and After 2001" is by Ray Bradbury. There are eight sections including stories on robots, environmentalism, and time travel. Authors whose stories are presented include: Kurt Vonnegut, Karel Capek (R.U.R.), Isaac Asimov, Arther C. Clarke, H.G. Wells, Harry Harrison (I Always Do What Teddy Says), Roald Dahl, Ray Bradbury (A Sound of Thunder), Frederik Pohl, and Phillip K. Dick. A great collection, if you can find it.
