Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Gr 2-6-Those who have been asked how to make a wave machine will find the answer here, along with myriad other water experiments ranging from a raucous Burping Bottle to a serene garden of paper posies that open their petals as they absorb water. Although the title suggests that these experiments can be done in a bathtub, some, such as the water cannon, might best be planned for outdoors. After providing two pages of safety precautions, including the need for adult supervision, the authors present 35 activities. Each one begins with a list of required materials, followed by numbered steps, and concludes with a discussion of the results. Colorful photos of young children performing the experiment enhance the directions and clever cartoons add to the fun. Common materials such as ketchup packets are easy to obtain. This book will supply hours of water ideas for children as well as for group leaders.
