Sci-Fi TV,
By Dante (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Science Fiction Television (The Praeger Television Collection) (Hardcover)
I bought this book for a "history of sci-fi television" class and had to read pretty much the entire book throughout the term. The book has a lot of information and the author definitely has a grasp on the subject but the way the book is written is very "meh". Most chapters simply consist of the author recounting or summarizing plots from various tv episodes with little else in the way of info. If you are looking for a book that is more history and behind the scenes oriented about sci-fi then pass on this. If you want a book that quickly spoils the plot of every sci-fi series but accurately summarizes entire seasons in a few chapters then this is your best bet.
Also whatever typeface they used for the body copy of this book is horrendous. In combination of a wacky font and much too tight of leading you will quickly find your eyes strained and overwhelmed. Poorly designed interior. Decent looking dust jacket. 2/5 for book design as well. |
