Six great workouts for a great price,
By "lilsteph79" (Delaware) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Science of Fitness with Tamilee - I Want That Body! (DVD)
I first bought this DVD because I liked that I got six workouts for the price of one DVD. As soon as I got it home, I tried session one of the Buns workout. I got through about 7 of the 15 minutes, and I had trouble sitting down for the next two days! But with practice, doing the workouts two or three times a week, it gets easier, you can get through the whole thing, and you'll definitely see the results. As some other reviewers have said, the second Buns workout is almost easier than the first, and at least not as aerobic, but the Arms and Abs segments do have a more challenging Session Two. The Arms workouts gave me the fastest results, and while I've just started using the Abs sections (and let me tell you, it will be a while before I can get through the entire Session Two!) I can tell by the feeling in my abs the next day that it's doing its job. The quality of the DVD and the instructor, Tamilee Webb, make it a workout you don't get tired of doing over and over. Tamilee is encouraging without being annoying or perky, the music isn't loud, the set is simple, and since it's only Tamilee doing the workout, students repeating the moves do not distract you. The most important thing, though, is that these are truly effective workouts, most are simple enough to follow along with the first or second time around, and since each individual workout is only 15 minutes long, you can find time in your day to at least do one or two. This DVD, along with walking a few times a week and eating healthier foods, has helped me lose 16 pounds in the last few months. It's my favorite workout and I know I'll continue using it for a long time.

A Great DVD - Perfect if You're Pressed for Time,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Science of Fitness with Tamilee - I Want That Body! (DVD)
I was a little hesitant about buying this DVD. Tamilee, after all, is the "Buns of Steel" lady, which connoted a certain amount of cheesiness. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find a total of 6 excellent workouts (2 each for abs, arms, and buns); very nice production values; and NO hokey southern belle yakking away ad nauseum. Tamilee encourages without being overbearing, and educates without being too talkative. (The DVD sound option also lets you do the workout with music only - nice feature.) She has a great, athletic figure, and perfect form, so watching her do standard exercises makes you realize (and feel) that you may have been doing them wrong in the past. She also throws in new exercises that are challenging and effective, without being so difficult as to frustrate. All you need to do these 15-minute workouts is a mat (if you have no carpet), handweights (she uses 5 lbs. but you can use more or less), and a chair. Overall, this was a great surprise and a very useable DVD that I can grow with. I'm extremely happy with this purchase - which is rare considering how much junk there is on the exercise video market!

I just received this DVD and have gone through the whole thing. It is divided into 3 workouts - Arms, Abs & Buns. Two 15 minute programs are offered for each of the three, with the second program being harder than the first. The DVD allows you to quickly select a program.A chair and hand weights are required for some of the programs. I have only had this a week and it has already replaced all of my other strength training videos. Tamilee Webb, as usual, has a very quiet and professional style which I prefer over the "cute" instructors. She reminds you about correct form, and is very easy to follow. The music in this DVD is unobtrusive. It's a very professional package and well worth the money. I have been working out for about 4 months, and consider myself to be at an intermediate level of fitness. I found the Arms segment to be quick but effective. The moves are simple, but really target the arms and shoulders. If it gets too easy - just move to a heavier set of weights. The Abs segment is also very effective. Both programs have some very difficult moves. Some of the moves are the classics, some are new. Program 2 concentrates more on the sides than Program 1, but all areas of the abs are worked in both. The Buns segment is very tough. I almost didn't even do that section. I am a serious bicyclist and don't really need to work my glutes. However, I had a tough time getting through the workout, and I really felt it the next day!

I can say without hesitation that this is a tough workout -- and I'm just talking about the first three (easier) abs, buns and arms workouts on the DVD. I haven't even looked at the second workouts because the first ones kick my [tail] every time. Tamilee says to move up to those second workouts once the first ones get boring and easy. I don't expect to be moving on from the first exercises for quite some time.Tamilee is a great instructor. She has a great body, but it isn't like the models in the magazines, so you know it's attainable. She works her tail off for her body; we're not talking lucky genes here. I don't know how much time she spent in the lab testing these exercises, but the ones she chose for the tape truly are effective. I've been working out five to seven days a week for more than four months, and this DVD makes me feel like I'm starting all over again. That's a good thing -- my muscles ache afterwards, meaning I'm hitting them harder than I have been in a while. The ab section is great. It's tough, but still do-able, so you can work it effectively right from the start. The arms are super tough. I've never worked my triceps so hard in my life. Again, I was able to get through all of it on the first try. The buns, though, are really, really tough for me. I had to slow it down and take a break before finishing. The only annoying part of this DVD is that she does the workouts in sets. That's tough when you're just starting and she keeps telling you to go back and do another set of that exercise you nearly passed out doing the first time. I know sets are really effective, and by the second or third watch, they didn't bug me, but it was discouraging at first. I'd be standing in my living room, proud that I'd made it through that tough routine, and then I'd realize I still had one last set to do. Ugh. But no pain, no gain, right? So I plowed through, and if you're serious about getting fit, you will too. This is a great workout to do it with. It'll keep you busy for a long time to come because the first segments aren't easy, and the second segments ... Well, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

I've been working out hard for almost 6 months and I found this dvd to be very challenging. I use dvd's in my workout almost daily, and I have a lot of them. I will have to say that this is my new favorite. Tamilee is a good instructor and the exercises really are effective. There is a lot on this dvd too. There are 3 sections (Abs, Arms, and Buns), and each section has two 16 minute segments. I've been doing the Buns workout at least twice a week and boy does it "get" your buns along with your legs too. It's a great workout. The only thing I think could be better is the arms section. I say that only because I am trying very hard to build my arms, I want definition. The speed that Tamilee goes on this section makes it impossible to use really heavy weights. But, for toning and tightening, it's a good workout. My favorite dvd before this one was the QF Total Mix (which I still love), but I'll have to say that this workout is much more intense than that one and I would highly recommend it!!!

Tamilee at her best!,

I was getting to a point where Tamilee's Buns of Steel Quick Toning series wasn't even making me break a sweat anymore, and since I'm a huge Tamilee fan, I decided to try out I Want That Body! on DVD. I am absolutely thrilled with it! The workouts are squarely targeted and fun, you can unmistakably feel your muscles working, and it really gets your endorphins flowing. The workouts are only 15 minutes apiece so there's no excuse not to do them. The beginner's workouts are a challege even for me, the advanced workouts are absolutely killer, and you can advance smoothly from the former to the latter simply by using bigger handweights. Having the programs on DVD makes it easy to access the workouts you want in any order you want, instantly. Most people will skip past the "science of fitness" segments, but I actually found them very interesting (being the big science geek that I am). It's great to see a fitness instructor who's so intelligent (she's got a master's degree!) producing such an excellent video. Not to mention that this DVD combines all the programs from the Abs, Arms, and Buns videos, which makes it a terrific deal and a space-saver. I highly recommend this DVD!

An awesome workout!!,

I recently bought this DVD and I am so pleased with it already. Tamilee is very motivating and she uses classic exercises that are not at all hard to follow. What I like most about this DVD is how each section (arms, abs, buns) is broken up into two 15 minute programs. It's very easy to start off slow and gradually work up to longer and more intense workouts. I've had difficulty in the past trying to do other videos because they are continually the same workout everyday, I would get very bored with them. I don't think I will have a problem keeping up on this workout! If anyone is looking for that "really feel it the next day" workout, you should definitely invest in this one.

What a great DVD! The workouts on this DVD are extremely effective. Tamilee is a great instructor, encouraging, but not annoying. The music is pretty bad, but it's not too loud so I turn it down low. There are two workouts for each body part--abs, arms and buns. The second one of each is more advanced than the first. I had previously gotten Quick Fix-Total Mix, which is a good DVD, but this one is so much better. It packs much more into each workout. However, this one is much more challenging, so sometimes QF is better for easy days. There are some traditional movements and some that I hadn't done before. Tamilee moves quickly from one move to the next so your muscles don't have time to rest. I think that's part of what makes it so effective. It's also nice because you don't have to stand there waiting for her to explain the move after you've been doing it for a while. Both arms workouts are very challenging. There is a lot of work on the triceps and also biceps and shoulders. If you need a harder workout, you can just add more weight. The first abs workout is very challenging, the second one makes me sore for days. The second one includes a lot work for the obliques (the side of your abs). Both buns workouts are extremely challenging. The first one is actually pretty aerobic, it has me sweating and my heart pounding. She uses lunges with kicks so it helps with balance. This is an outstanding DVD to get your body in shape in a short amount of time. Good for beginners (although you'll be really sore for a while) all the way up to more advanced exercisers.

A Terrific Fitness Video,

My first foray into fitness dvds was minna's "balanced blend," and i prefer this one *much* more. minna's is good if you're getting started with working out regularly--it's a good workout but not intimidating. however, this tamilee dvd provides a challenging workout, even for those who work out regularly. i've noticed results from the arms workout after 5-6 sessions. the buns workout is difficult--my quads and glutes could barely handle program one! but after 4-5 program one sessions, i've moved on to program two, so i know i'm definitely getting stronger, and quickly. i like the abs programs b/c she goes beyond your standard crunches & crunch derivaties, so it's challenging *and* interesting. like with the other two body areas, i did program one a few times and then was able to move up to program two. i find i can do it with more ease each time. like tamilee says after each workout, doing these 15 minute sessions 2-3 times a week will produce results. the only thing that would make this dvd perfect is the addition of a cardio segment, so you could do a combo workout more easily. but, i highly recommend this dvd.
