5.0 out of 5 stars No Pushups, those are in Abs Of Steel 2
I think the one review that mentioned the pushups reviewed the wrong Tamilee Webb video. The "I Want those Abs" there isn't a single pushup. There are 2 15 minute workouts. Each has a minute of stretching before going to the floor. Workout 2 starts with a standing oblique move, but after that, the rest is on the floor. I like that, you don't have to get back up...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Tamilee's best
Tamilee Webb, a well-known veteran instructor, has put together a new series of "I want those..." tapes. Each tape contains two 15-minute workouts focused on a particular part of the body. At the start of the video, Tamilee explains that she did exhaustive research to determine which exercises were the most effective and then included the exercises that rated highest in...

The 2nd workout is killer! Really burns! The first is geared towards beginners or just preparing yourself for the the 2nd workout. I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars WITH THIS VIDEO YOU CAN GET THEM, March 6, 2001

WOW! I worked out last night with this video and there is no doubt that I worked my abs. This isn't just your average video. Tamilee really shows you how to do it right, and she has the abs to prove it. Tamilee talks you through the whole video, it's like you have a personal trainer right there helping to motivate you. I "Want Those Abs" and with this video I'm going to get them.

5.0 out of 5 stars More challenging than Abs of Steel 2, less annoying music, August 8, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Science of Fitness with Tamilee: I Want Those Abs! [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I was pretty psyched to see that Tamilee came out with a new ab video. Even though Abs of Steel 2 is an awesome video, it was about time for a little variety. This review is written in relation to Abs of Steel 2, since that is the only other ab video I know.

I like the concept of having starter/easier workout that can be done to prepare for the much more challenging 2nd workout. I tried to do both the first day I got it. BZZZZ...wrong answer, Tamilee did her homework and the 2nd workout will not let you off easy. Not only is the first workout a good prep, it is also good for those days you've already done an extra hard work already. The first workout is good for a solid burn, but is achievable even if you are pretty fatigued already.

The second workout is challenging, with lots of new workout positions. There is a "3-stage" ab routine in the second workout that is difficult, don't be surprised if you can only do one or two stages of it at first... the "3-stage" routine is the most challenging, and of course the most effective.

Pros:
1)Music isn't annoying and is rarely distracting
2)New ab routines
3)MUCH better results

Cons:
1)The description of the video did not indicate you'd need a hand weight (it is only used for one routine in 2nd workout). This barely warrants a "con", but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Overall:
VERY happy with video, far exceeded my expectations. Well worth the $15. I STRONGLY recommend this video.

5.0 out of 5 stars My abs definitely look better because of this tape, October 1, 2002

This review is from: The Science of Fitness with Tamilee: I Want Those Abs! [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I am a longtime fan of Tamilee's workouts, especially her step aerobics tapes. This is the 1st Tamilee ab tape I bought, and I love it! It's so easy to motivate myself to do this tape...even if I'm tired and don't feel like working out, I just tell myself it's only 15 minutes, and once I get started I finish it! (There are actually two 15 minute workouts on the tape. Normally, I do one workout, but there have been times when I've gone through both. That's when you can really see/feel the results!) She says on the tape that you only have to do these a few times a week to see results, and she is right! I have committed to doing an ab workout every other day, and I am really happy with the way my abs look. I can definitely see a difference & my husband thinks my abs look the best they ever have!

I have to comment about the other reviewer who said this tape hurt her back. At first my back hurt with some of the exercises, but I discovered that was because of 2 reasons: I was arching my back during some of the moves and my back was not strong to begin with. This tape not only strengthens your abs, but your back. Combine it with "I want those arms" and your upper body will definitely become toned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clear, concise, and easy to follow, June 25, 2002

This review is from: The Science of Fitness with Tamilee: I Want Those Abs! [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I've tried many ab routines, doing basic calisthenics, and other ab videos. This has to be one of the best. I've always respected Tamilee's straightforward approach, and had results. I've owned Abs of Steel 1 & 2 and Arms and Abs of steel since their inception, all of which I still use and enjoy. This 'updated' version of two seperate ab routines, are engineered to give the viewer the most productive ab excercises. I can testify that they do work when you incorporate them into a workout program. Great work once again, Tamilee!

Every morning I do a series of crunches, leg lifts (to target lower abs), and cross-over crunches (to target obliques). But I really wanted to sculpt my abs, and with this video (used 3 times a week), I've been able to do just that.
I found Program 1 (the 1st 15-minute workout of the video) to be rather easy, so I tried Program 2, which is a 15-minute workout featuring some rather unique moves. Tamilee takes you through the moves quickly, which I like because before you know it, you're done. The time really flies. I find the workout challenging, but not impossible, and it doesn't cause neck or back pain (which is often a problem with other ab workouts I've tried).
Tamilee's cuing and personality are excellent. She's not "phoney" and she doesn't grate on your nerves, which is important because when your crunching your abs and feeling the burn, the last thing you want is an aggravating instructor barking out commands and shallow words of encouragement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great results in a short amount of time, August 26, 2002
This review is from: The Science of Fitness with Tamilee: I Want Those Abs! [VHS] (VHS Tape)
-The instruction is clear and sensible, the music has a distinct beat that is easy to follow even if you're not looking at the TV, and you can work your way up gradually to doing the whole tape if you are a beginner. Tamilee Webb is motivating without whooping or being silly.
-People just starting out will get noticeable results just from doing the first few minutes of the workout every day or on alternate days. I had been doing the short abdominal sections on some of the Kathy Smith tapes for a few months, and became ready for something more challenging. This tape is just what I was looking for.
-It is very challenging to do both 15-minute programs all at once, but you can alternate or just keep doing the easier first program for a while. The noticeable increase in strength each time I do the workout is very motivating. The abdominal muscles can be worked every day, and they seem to shape up quickly.
-There are no back exercises on this tape to work the opposing muscle group, so after the workout I do several of those moves in which you lie on your stomach and lift the torso and limbs off the floor slowly, then some easy back stretches. (I have had minor back problems in the past, but this ab workout did not hurt my back.)
-The music is okay, with a clear beat. That helps when you're concentrating on what you're doing and not looking at the TV. But about 9 minutes into the tape, the music suddenly sounds like cats fighting -- I had to turn off the tape and go check on my cats! The quality of the exercises makes it worth putting up with those few minutes of weird noises, though.
-- To work your abs in different ways for a more thorough approach, rotate this tape with the following other videos: "Callanetics," "Karen Voight -- Abdominals & Back Pilates," "Karen Voight -- Great Weighted Workout (15-minute tough ab section near the end, using weights), and any kickboxing workout, such as "Tae Bo Live! Advanced"

5.0 out of 5 stars it got my abs of steel sore the next day!, August 6, 2003
This review is from: The Science of Fitness with Tamilee: I Want Those Abs! [VHS] (VHS Tape)
ok i don't really have abs of steel, but i do have to say i got pretty strong abs, and this tape still made my abs a little sore the next day!!
there are 2 programs, 1 easier, and 2 hard.
Both programs are 15mins long each.
The first set has 8-10mins of crunches of all sorts and then repeats the sets again for the total of the 15mins.
The second program has some more challenging sets that have been inspired by Jane Fonda.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful results!, May 29, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Science of Fitness with Tamilee: I Want Those Abs! [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video has two fifteen minutes workouts. One, for the beginer, one for the advanced. However, some people may still find the exercises in the beginer's workout too difficult. There are traditional and non-traditional exercises. All of them are very effective. I love this tape because it delivers great results. My only regret is that it is too fast paced and sometimes she speaks too low. This tape is a must-have. Great purchase.
