Two strong, effective, quick buttocks workouts.,
This review is from: The Science of Fitness with Tamilee: I Want Those Buns! [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Tamilee Webb, a well-known veteran instructor, has put together a new series of "I want those..." tapes. Each tape contains two 15-minute workouts focused on a particular part of the body. At the start of the video, Tamilee explains that she did exhaustive research to determine which exercises were the most effective and then included the exercises that rated highest in her workouts. For each workout, Tamilee is exercising solo in the same studio from her "Quick Toning" series (minus the two televisions showing her from different angles). In fact, the entire feel of this video is similar to the QT workouts, but it moves much more quickly, including shorter workout and cool-down times. Tamilee is an excellent instructor and good at cueing, but in this video, she moves so fast between the exercises that it is sometimes difficult to keep up.The first segment consists of fairly traditional moves. Tamilee begins with squats, moves on to lunges, the "sumo" squat, and a combined lunge/kick. She does three total sets with some variations each time and moving from 12 to 8 to 12 repetitions. The second workout consists of more unique moves. There is a strong emphasis on one-legged squats, combining these with a toe tap, buttocks kick-backs, and a "runners" lunge (which I liked a lot). According to the tape, the second workout is supposed to be more challenging, but I found that each one had its tough parts. Overall, I enjoyed these workouts. Unlike what some other reviewers said, the next day, I really felt it in my buttocks rathern than my thighs, which is what usually happens with other lower body workouts. Also, I didn't experience any strain to my knees, so I wonder if those who did weren't being careful enough to not let their knees go beyond their toes during the squats and lunges. These two workouts are tough enough to shape up this hard-to-change body part without being too grueling to do.

Great Toning Workout,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Science of Fitness with Tamilee: I Want Those Buns! [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Tamilee Webb delivers a great toning workout for the buns in this tape. Like the other "I Want Those..." tapes, there are two workouts, each complete with warm-up and cool downs. The first workout is a bit easier than the second (although they both burn) and when you advance a bit you can do both. And there is little repetition between the two so you won't get bored. Webb is a confident and professional instructor. She does NOT have that (seemingly requisite)ear to ear grin glued to her face, which makes her seem more genuine. There is really no cardio work here, and my only gripe is that this should have been more clear on the tape jacket. But it will last as a great toning and strengthening bun workout

Nothing comes close to this workout!,

I have incorporated some squats (including the Smith machine) and lunges in my regular workout for the last 2 years. But I'm telling you that I did the first 15 minutes of this video and could hardly walk for 5 days. MAKE SURE YOU DO PLENTY OF STRETCHING before and after. What a workout! The best buns workout hands down!

Best buns workout EVER,

This is the best buns workout I have ever done in my life, and I've done plenty. The first time I did the first 15 minutes, I could feel my butt and quads being targetted. She knows exactly what exercises are most effective and what order to use them in.

Great Workout,

I have been using the video for three months now and have thoroughly enjoyed it. This workout has helped to improve my stamina not only for tennis but many other sports. By using the different lunges and squats it helps to strenghten the lower half of the body; buns on down. If one adds weights it should imporve the lower half faster along with adding strength to the arms.

Tamilee is now my favorite instructor!,

What I truly love about this video is the fact that Tamilee is instructing one on one. She is soft spoken, knowledgeable and motivating without being condescending or obnoxious. This video gave my rear and legs a superb workout! The sumo squats are a killer!! I didn't have trouble with my knees throughout the workout or afterwards (you have to be extremely careful not to extend you knees beyond your toes). I'm so glad I purchased this video!

Effective and Challenging,

I have done a lot of lower body workouts and this is the best one that I've found. These exercises left my quads and glutes burning for 3 days afterwards! Tamilee's format and demeanor is very professional--she takes this seriously and so will you. I also have 'I Want Those Arms', which is also excellent, but I think the Buns video is more effective.

I felt it more in my quads,

Not a bad video, but I felt knee strain and really only felt the exercises in my quads and only somewhat in my hamstrings & glutes. It is full of squat & lunge variations. If she would have included floor work that targets the buns, it would have been a keeper. I didn't keep this video of Tamilee's. I prefer her old Buns Of Steel tapes to this one.

Great Workout - Not Hard on Your Knees,

I have bad knees so I was skeptical of this workout, but I've been doing it for a couple months and, unlike other reviewers, have had no problems with my knees at all! This is a tough workout - not much rest - but feels really good. I love Tamilee's style - it's just her in the studio and she's very calm and easy to follow - not overly peppy and chatty like some other instructors. I highly recommend this video.

Tough workout but GREAT results...my husband LOVES my buns!,

This review is from: The Science of Fitness with Tamilee: I Want Those Buns! [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Am 39yrs and wish that I had found this workout a decade earlier. After a month of consistently working out to this video, my buns are in the BEST shape of my entire life. In the beginning I could barely make it thru the first 15 minutes & groaned every time I tried to sit down. Really focusing on technique and following her instructions helped. Done incorrectly, you will stress your knees. Because I'm pear-shaped & trouble spots are more south of the border- I appreciate the fact she gets right down to business and targets these areas with exercises designed to strengthen and define the glutes/thighs/etc. In addition to the Buns video, I have added Leslie Sansone's 4-mile power-walk to the mix. Down 20# and continually working altho I've hit a plateau...probably because I'm still a night snacker (darn it). My husband commented that the top of my rear was extremely firm (nice he noticed)- but I still need to work on the lower rear and upper thighs. Am going to attempt both 15min workouts a day- instead of alternating. Should see more results kicking it up a notch. Thanks Tamilee for a FABULOUS dvd.
