Amazing blend of jazz and electronica! Love it!, January 31, 2008
This review is from: Science for Girls (Audio CD)
This CD is going to be on my obssessive-listening list for quite some time! Darren Solomon produced the CD, wrote nearly all the tracks, plays almost all the instruments, and recruited some of the best singers from the NYC indie-rock scene - he has put together an amazing collection of songs. "14 Days," "Australia," and "Northern Lights" are my current top-three favorites on the album, but it tends to change moment-by-moment... It's just a fantastic blend of electronica-style music and jazz that I've rarely, if ever, heard. There's a lot of latin-flavor to it as well... It's great romantic mood music, background music to work by, cruising music on a nice, sunny day (although I haven't experienced that yet, here in Seattle... but, I can dream...). Every song has a relaxing groove that completely gets under my skin and just takes me away... I can't get enough of it!

Fantastic music!, February 24, 2008
This review is from: Science for Girls (Audio CD)
I first heard the song "14 Days" on a podcast while flying from Chicago to Seattle. I liked it enough to climb out of my seat to get a pen and paper and write down "Science for Girls" so I could get the CD. Go to http://www.scienceforgirls.net/ to hear some of the songs from the CD and I'll bet you order a copy. Very nice Brazilian-style chord structures, electronic piano/synth, and I like the different lead singers on different songs. This is inspired music, and very nicely produced - spacious. Perfect for playing in the background while working or studying, but it rewards careful listening, too. This is a real find.
