Do Not Buy this item,

Do not waste $60 for a wedge piece of foam that probably costs about $2 and a cover that shreds the first time you wash it. Received the pillow and washed the cover. The inside shreads and the zipper seams come apart. Ridiculous for the amount of money. Don't bother.

I have to agree with the other customer. The first time I washed the cover, it started to fray and come apart around the zipper seams. Also the foam pillow is now losing it's shape.

I first ordered a 5" wedge pillow, which after some consideration, thought that might not be high enough so I returned that a got a 7"X 24 X 24 one. This turned out to be a better investment and has improved my health issues greatly. I would of never of believed a pillow could of helped me so much, but if you have acid reflux and headaches, you are in for a treat. My acid reflux has darn near disappeared and the headaches I was having have left the building also. It takes some time getting used to sleeping angled up, but, the benefits are great! For the amount you pay for one of these, what do you have to lose? If it don't work and I seriously doubt that it won't, you can always return it.

I like the height of this pillow. Wish it was just a little bit longer but overall it's not too bad. Slightly pricey but when it's something you really, really need, I think it's worth the price.
Pillow is very firm and hasn't flatted at all beyond the lowest point. The upper 80% is still solid and holds my weight no problem. Haven't washed the cover yet but will take care when doing so. Update: November 2010 I bought this item back in February of 2009 and have used it constantly. It has a tendency to move 'down' the bed after several nights but otherwise it's still pretty much in the state it was when I bought it. I have learned that after a while I have to take the foam out of the cover and turn it over. it's rare and only takes a sec. So, overall, I'm very happy and have increased my rating of this pillow by one star after 1.5 years.

Science of Sleep Wedge for Acid Reflux Condition,
By Jack (Georgia) - See all my reviews

This pillow has worked for me, though it is overpriced in my opinion. It is reasonably comfortable to sleep on after an adjustment period (you have to get used to sleeping on a hill!) It is quite wide, which is a benefit as it permits one to change positions without having to readjust the pillow under you. I was a bit doubtful about the 5" height as I thought it might not be high enough. Since the 5" is at the maximum end, the actual elevation of one's chest and abdomen is considerably less -- particularly if one sleeps about 2/3's of the way up the pillow (typical for me). However it is a trade-off between forever sliding downhill as from a higher pillow and putting pressure on the portion of the body remaining relatively flat and getting high enough to mitigate acid reflux. In my opinion, the maximum benefit comes with using an inclined pillow and a acid reducing drug such as a proton-pump inhibitor.
I have used the pillow only for about a month and a half at this point so I have no comments on the durability as yet. |
