Review

...During our ten-year association, I learned the missing number to my combination for worldwide successful achievement. The Master Mind Principle: two or more persons working together in complete harmony toward a mutual goal or goals...Napoleon Hill's philosophy teaches you what you were never taught. Specifically: How to Recognize, Relate, Assimilate and Apply principles whereby you can achieve any goal whatsoever that doesn't violate Universal Law - the Law of God and the rights of your fellowman... -- W. Clement Stone Chairman, Combined International Corporation President, The Napoleon Hill Foundation

During the past twenty-five years I have been blessed with more good fortune than any individual deserves but I shudder to think where I'd be today, or what I'd be doing if I had not been exposed to Napoleon Hill's philosophy. It changed my life. -- Og Mandino Author and Lecturer

I knew Napoleon Hill in 1922 when I was a student in Salem College in the town of my birth. Mr. Hill came to our campus as the commencement speaker in that year. As I listened to him, I heard something other than just the words he spoke, I felt the substance - the wisdom - and the spirit of a man and his philosophy. Mr. Hill said "the most powerful instrument we have in our hand is the power of our mind." Napoleon Hill compiled this philosophy of American achievement for the benefit of all people. I strongly commend this philosophy to you for achievement and service in your chosen field. -- Senator Jennings Randolph West Virginia

From the Author

A Word From the Author In every chapter of this course, mention has been made of the money-making secret which has made fortunes for hundreds of exceedingly wealthy men whom I have carefully analyzed over a long period of years.

The secret was brought to my attention by Andrew Carnegie, more than half a century ago. The canny, lovable old Scotsman carelessly tossed it into my mind, when I was but a boy. Then he sat back in his chair, with a merry twinkle in his eyes, and watched carefully to see if I had brains enough to understand the full significance of what he had said to me.

When he saw that I had grasped the idea, he asked if I would be willing to spend twenty years or more preparing myself to take it to the world, to men and women who, without the secret, might go through life as failures. I said I would, and with Mr. Carnegie's cooperation, I have kept my promise.

Napoleon Hill, 1928

I was initially reticent about buying this course, since I didn't want to find out that I had just bought a re-hash of other Napoleon Hill books. I was very pleasantly surprised with the textbook (I own a used copy, the 1983 Educational Edition), which contains a LOT of new material, and I actually had several "A-HA!" moments that gave me a greater understanding of "Think & Grow Rich" & his other titles; an example this new material I found is in Lesson 6: Personal Initiative, paragraphs 107-128, a VERY detailed account of how a fellow named E.H. Brett came up with an idea, made a definite plan with which to carry it out, and then went on to carry it out step-by-step...and the steps are right there for the reader to follow! This book is worth every penny of the price, and I believe it's worth a LOT more than that - I'm already applying it to my career, and it is making a big difference in how I plan each next step in the achievement of my goals. As in other books by Hill, he often restates the importance of the Mastermind Principle, Personal Initiative and the other lessons in his philosophy; rather than being simply repetitive, each mention fits well within the context of each lesson. In all, Napoleon Hill's ideas are best described as being wonderful instructions for learning how to express and act on your ideas and goals in a clear, step-by-step manner; yes, it can be applied to money, and most often is, but it applies to any goals, no matter what they are.
