Personally I have always thought about many of these topics while flying, but never gave a thought to writing anything in print. Kudos to Elizabath for providing simple understandings for a curious mind.

full of details, great plates,
This review is from: Science from Your Airplane Window (Paperback)
I would definitely recommend this little book; the amount of details it reveals to the unaided person is impressive; flying will never be the same after you read it; you will be curious about everything;
The book however cannot be awarded 5 stars; There are basically two reasons for this: - It begins with the explanation on how lift on airfoils is produced. This explanation relies on the air particles on the suction side having to cover a longer distance than the air particles on the pressure side, both meeting at the trailing edge. This is a wrong argument. Today, you can find this kind of wrong arguments flourishing on the internet. - The physics underlying some observations is not explained; If I hadn't read Clouds in a Glass of Beer: Simple Experiments in Atmospheric Physics prior to Wood's book, I wouldn't have enjoyed this little gem.
