From the Manufacturer

Chemistry is an award winning kit that comes with a 40 page highly visual, step-by- step instruction book. All the materials are included your child will need to perform 35 experiments. A classic set of all time favorite children's experiments are combined to explore the matter of matter: make candles, squirt with water pressure, sink and float an egg, dye a flower from the inside out, squeeze an egg into a bottle, capturing a CO2 explosion and growing crystals. Step-by-step 3D directions and the use of everyday materials brings clarity to how things work.

Product Description

Get ready to explore 35 chemistry projects right at home with the ScienceWiz Chemistry kit. Make candles, squirt with water pressure, sink and float and egg, dye a flower from the inside out, squeeze an egg into a bottle, capture a CO2 explosion and grow crystals - all in with one kit. WOW!

Step-by-step instructions lead a child successfully through each activity. The full color illustrations present central scientific concepts which allow children to discover the "why" as well as the "how" of these great projects. Bring the fun and learning further by utilizing the animations that compliment the book on the ScienceWiz website to deepen and extend comprehension.

The award winning ScienceWiz line got its start in 1995 when we released our first title ScienceWiz Electricity. Our line of science kits stemmed from Dr. Penny Norman's volunteer work teaching science in her children's elementary schools and her ScienceWiz after school and summer programs. With initial development supported by grants from the National Science Foundation and the Franklin Foundation, each of our kits is created with the goal of teaching fundamental scientific concepts to children through hands-on play. From our offices in El Sobrante, CA we work hard towards our goal of providing children a basic foundation in science. Each new title we release is focused on a distinct topic. With so many disciplines in science, our work may never be finished. Along the way, we hope to inspire young minds to love learning as much as we do.

Best of all, the kit provides the odd things you need to complete the experiments successfully.
Happy Mom
The colorful experiment book is very well written enticing anyone to want to do an experiment or two.

You're better off downloading your own experiments from the internet or buying a book than this kit.

My 1st grader came home wanting to do science. So, I searched on the internet and found this kit. We have done several experiments. The ones we have done are fun, they are easy enough for my son participate heavily, and educational.

The educational part is mostly because I try to take time to explain what is happening. I am an engineer and that helps give me some background on what is going on. The explanations in the book alone can be lacking. I don't take away any stars for that, for a first grader these are just wholesome fun experiments which he can do with Dad and perhaps build a longer lasting appreciation of science and engineering.

I am the author of this book. This is an all time favorite title that has proven itself with customers over many years. It is for ages 5-10, not for 9 and up. It is extremely visual. The images are from the talented Art Huff, who is one of our nations finest artists and animators. The materials are carefully chosen and not randomly chosen. You might like to know that my daughter and son both helped to debug this book when they were young children. The one is currently a Chemistry Major at Stanford University and the other got a 5, the maximum in his Chemistry AP exam which he took in his sophomore year in high school. Now I cannot say that this book produced these results. I do believe that it made them feel that chemistry was accessible to them and instilled a love of Chemistry in them. Also, we have used this book on an ongoing basis in our afterschool programs. It is an extremely popular class. One of the favorites. We have sold 100,000's of copies of this book since 1998. This title has stood the test of time. It has sold so well for a reason: it is charming and age appropriate and compelling.

I am currently defending my rights to my intellectual property, peculiarly enough, in a Florida federal court. I ask that you take all "spontaneous reviews" in the near term on my titles with a severe grain of salt and look deeper into other reviews on the web which span a time frame of close to 10 years.

My sons loved to gather around and do these experiments together. The text is bright and colorful, fun, and easy to understand. Science is not my strong suit, but this product made it possible for me to instill a love of science for my children. We used this in 1st grade together with the younger boys watching. An older child who can read would be able to do it alone successfully. Best of all, the kit provides the odd things you need to complete the experiments successfully.

We have a six year old and have purchased a variety of chemistry/science books and basic experiment kits. This is our favorite. All experiments we've tried have worked well and provided fantastic opportunities for inquiry and discovery. It's a great all-in-one product. Any unusual materials or containers (and even some basic ones) are provided in the kit. Any additional materials not included are specifically stated in experiment instructions and would be stocked in the most basic of home kitchens. We love doing these projects with friends and it's become a requested event for any sleepover at our house.

I bought this for my 7 year old daughter last christmas. She never seemed interested in science before and I thought this might help. Well, I was head on and then some. She loves this. There are so many things she wants to try from it and she is learning so much from it. They give the science behind the experiments and guide you through with all the steps. Her older brother seems interested in it too, so they do the experiments together. I want to buy more of these now for my nieces. Great buy for the kids!!

ScienceWiz Chemistry Experiment Kit was a fun time that my 10 year old son and I had together. We both learned, we said "Wow", we had fun. My son had a great time showing his brothers and his friends the experiments that we did. He felt smart and showed a lot of excitement.

I would highly recommend the kit. It's a nice time to get to talk to one another and get away from the TV and video games.

I wouldn't have felt worse if the Sciencewiz people hit me in the head with a brick and stole $20 from my pocket. Here's the contents, you make up your mind on whether it is worth $20: 5 balloons, 2 feet of string, 2 snips of shoelace string, an index card, 2 plastic tubes a crystal powder, and an experiment book.

I thought a Chemistry set has to have chemicals in it... there were none.

Kids toy sites probably don't allow curse words or I would have a lot more to say.

Here's one of the "experiments" they provide " Fill the balloon with water, squish it around; now get your parent to blow up another balloon. How are the 2 balloons different?

Here's another:

Go get a small can (not included); fill it with crayons and wax (not included); put it in a pot of water (not included); heat it on the stove until the crayons melt; dip the string (HOORAY, the string is included!!!!!) in the melted wax; dip the string in a cup of cold water (not included); repeat 100 times. Now you have a candle.

My son also got a Chemistry set from a different maker called Chemistry C500, and it is much better and actually has chemicals.
