1.0 out of 5 stars Not very fun or interesting...
I got this kit the year before last. It looked very interesting from the packaging, but when I opened it I was not impressed. There are not very many experiments in here. The glasses were interesting for about 1 minute, until I looked through them. The dog biscuit recipe was nice, however, but the other experiments were not very interesting at all.

I thought this was a wonderful kit for my eight year old daughter and nine year old son. It entertained them for a few days and I think they learned a lot too. The kit comes with a science guide with a whole bunch of different experiments and fun activities. The most enjoyable part (for the kids at least) was the dog sunglasses that they made, which let you see the world in the same colors that your dog sees. Did you know that dogs only see in red? Lucky, our dog, thought it was all great fun too. The kids really enjoyed baking dog cookies and Lucky loved eating them.

I would definitely recommend this kit - especially for parents who want to spark an interest in science for their kids. I think it would make a good Christmas gift.

I have been trying to get my third grade daughter interested in entering a science fair for two years and thanks to this kit I have found something that interests her enough to consider it. The dog whistle was the most fascinating (I thought those things were a hoax!) and worked well. We taught our dog, Yoda, a new trick by following the project on sense of smell, and we all enjoyed baking biscuits in a variety of shapes. Yoda gives them 5 stars!! A good value and a great way to learn about "man's best friend". It has encouraged study of other animals as well.

Very poor value, very little educational content. If I bought this from a local store I would return it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Fell short of expectation, December 25, 2007

I want to encourage my two 7 year old nieces and their 4 year old brother to be interested in science. Since they love my dog, I bought this kit to do together, but was sorely disappointed.

The part I thought would be the most interesting for the kids was the super-sonic whistle, but it was far from super-sonic. While it was very high pitched, it was not high enough to keep humans from hearing. It was suppose to be a variable length, but was fixed so you couldn't do anything to make the pitch too high to hear. Having the whistle within human hearing totally undid the purpose of that project. I went out and bought a two dollar one from a pet store so that we could explore the fact that Sadie's hearing is a different range than ours.

The biscuit mix was fairly decent, but not worth much. It didn't teach them anything about the dog. The glasses were very sub-par as well. The color blockers were just cheap 3-d glasses that they could color on and there was only one pair.

The big plus I have to say was the little workbook for things for the adult to say while instructing their "students". If the products that came with this had been to the same level, this would have been a great product, however since the products were so lousy, the kids weren't terribly interested in learning more about them.

In retrospect I would have just gathered all the materials myself and did it that way.

So I acquired the dog biscuit mix from this kit, but not the instructions. Can anyone who decides to write a review here post the instructions for the dog biscuits?? Thanks!

I bought two of these as Christmas gifts. Both the recipients were dog lovers, so I thought it was a perfect gift. What a ripoff. The whistle was a cheap plastic thing. Not the nice silver one pictured. The dog biscuit cookie cutter was also small and plastic, not like the metal one that was shown in the contents of the box. Besides these two items, there some paper glasses, dog biscuit mix and an instruction manual. It looked like about $2.00 worth of materials at most. I was so embarrassed when I saw what these children received. I do NOT recommend you send your money.

Stupid tricks, absolutely no fun. My dog knows much more then this so-called fun game has to offer. It might be good for people who has 2-5 year old kid and want the kid to have fun with the dog, but definitely not for you to have fun with your sophisticated and the best doggy-baby.
