5.0 out of 5 stars A fun project.
I bought this a while back but wasn't sure how much fun it would be. I finally tried it and I love it! The instructions are well written and easy to follow for almost any age. I had a blast making my own perfume with it. I was surprised it turned out so well; I figured it would be low quality. The concoction I made was a smooth blend of the oils provided (they mix...

3.0 out of 5 stars Meh.
Well I bought this for my 6 year old daughter and she likes it OK. She gets excited about the process of making the perfumes; however there's not much to the kit. The instructions say to label or mark the different perfume vials/oils/etc; so I would have appreciated labels to be included in the kit or something. The actual scents are not that great but to be honest my...

I had a blast making my own perfume with it. I was surprised it turned out so well; I figured it would be low quality. The concoction I made was a smooth blend of the oils provided (they mix surprisingly well) and it's lasted all day. Highly recommended for almost any age, though adult supervision would be advisable for children. By the way, I'm 24 and really enjoy this kit myself.

I bought this item for my 6 year old daughter for Christmas. She loves it. I love it. Together, we make such interesting and yummy smelling perfumes. It is a great way to spend daughter/mommy time. I have even worn some of our "concoctions" and received lots of compliments! I would definitely recommend this item for anyone who likes to experiment and smell good all at once.

Bought this for my granddaughter's birthday. She is 8yrs old & loves perfumes. This product is very easy for her to mix her own fragrances and she is happy with the results. Could have used more bottles for mixing & some little atomizers but overall it's a good product.

I purchased this product after my friend showed me what she had made with it. I opened it up and started making perfume right away. I didn't really understand the Scientific Explorer label because it had no educational value whatsoever. That was ok, though, because I wasn't disappointed that I didn't learn anything - I'm a kid and I want to have fun with the things that I purchase. That actual activity is a blast - it makes you feel like a professionsal, if there's a profession in perfume making - and the scents aren't actually bad smelling. I was a little disappointed that the kit comes with only 5 vials for your perfume creations. I ended up using a few empty perfume sample vials that I dug around for in my makeup bags. I had a lot of extra perfume in the bottles that the kit comes with. I am very happy with the fact that the activity is fun, and I'm planning on purchasing this for my 7 year old cousin. Decent price. Acivity is worth the money, but not so much what the kit actually comes with. There is too much perfume-base "flavors" (like jasmine and peppermint) and too few vials. Overall, this is a decent product and a great gift for anyone artsy and creative.

the five smells are great, but they do not give you enough "recipes" for different concoctions. also, not enough vials to make different perfume potions.

I think this product is okay... scents are horrible the. Only decent one is the apple scent... vials are cheap plastics which is what I would expect from this price point. Overall just okay.

I bought this for full price for my 13 year old daughter. While she was interested in mixing the different fragrances, she did not really think any of the individual scents smelled all that good. Her quote "They smell horrible." I could tell she was disappointed that she only managed to get one somewhat decent smelling concotion from the whole kit. Three of the 5 fragances smell very similar...a lot like laundry detergent. All of the oils have the same after smell (more like stench). I think both of us were thinking that the scented oils would be more varied and be more true and natural smelling to their specific scent.

For the price, Scientific Explorer should have at least made the plastic vials look more like cute perfume bottles AND include spray tops for the vials. Labels should have also been included with the kit too. The kit should have included at least twice as many concotion vials as well to really test with different combinations. My daughter tried making the recipes included with the kit and they both made our stomach's turn. This kit just didn't really seem like a complete kit to us especially for the price. Needs a lot more improvement with scents and twice as many scents and vials. This kept my 13 year old busy for about 10 minutes. Huge waste of $22.00
