My neice loved this
I bought these for my niece's birthday. It, along with a microscope, was the hit present of the day.

Yes, you do get what you pay for
If you want the cheapest quality beginner's microscope kit at a reasonable price, this set is for you. Well, that's not entirely true, as the slides are actually glass. The replacement bulb, if it fit my unit, would be the best part of the toy kit.
